My one and only advice for this place is make a reservation beforehand or like Michael Barry more.  You might 'Strike it Lucky" We had just been to a recital at The Rudolfinum building next to Manesuv Bridge and TA'd for a nearby restaurant and came up with this one. It's a bit off beaten track but seeing how many... More

We thoroughly enjoyed Restaurace U Knihovny and visited twice during our recent trip to Prague. On our second visit, a late lunch after a cold afternoon at the Christmas Market, we sampled the Farm Plate (a bargain); a huge portion of schnitzel and an extra side of mixed, roasted vegetables. Everything was excellent. With two drinks, the total was 441... More

we had dinner at the restaurant on Monday night. There was only 1 other table at the time we arrived . We had read reviews about the place, but were somewhat disappointed. Service was slow, and when my wife's goulash arrived, there was a film of grease around the plate. my meal was good except for the potato pancakes, which... More

We discovered this restaurant by recommendation from Rick Steves, and it is a great place to get Czech food. Our favorite meal is a slice of beef topped with onions and horseradish. Just be prepared with Certs afterwards! Every trip to Prague takes us back here. We've been for lunch and dinner and prefer this as a lunch spot. You... More

We read about this place in one of the guide books. It was a bit hard to find, as it was somewhat to the side and amidst some construction, but we were glad we did. We were greeted by a very friendly gentleman, who might have been an owner. He was very helpful with our questions. That night, we were... More

This restaurant is located in the old town of Prague, very near the Jewish quarter and by the public library, hence the name "U Knihovny" ("At the library"). We at here for lunch as we were touring in the Jewish quarter. The menu has English translations, but the daily menu does not. Since we really wanted Czech food as the... More

We had our last lunch here. The food was great and pretty inexpensive. Every dish that came out looked amazing. There was one waitress for the whole restaurant but she was super quick and provided some of the best service we have had our whole trip. Would definitely recommend going here it was a great find.

Neighbourhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighbourhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
