huge dining room with a lot of local character, flavor and local visitors, which is always a good thing! however, the person waiting on us was the cutest and so refreshingly honest! she could not recommend anything from a personal experience since she is vegetarian! but she did tell us what pairings to choose from-pairings that are traditional! since this... We really wanted to try some authentic beef tartar and found a lot of other places were serving it the French way with capers. It's reminiscent of a traditional beer hall, VERY affordable, had great service and excellent food. Seriously, great food! We got the beef tartar, cabbage salad with horseradish, ham with horseradish and homemade sausages. All of it... More

When visiting in another country; it is always a good sign when the restaurant is popular with the locals! This one was packed when we arrived with no reservations. It is a long room and the smoking area is in the front and the non smoking in the back....so, we were all non smokers and were able to get a... More

One of the best restaurants/bar I went in Prague. The atmosphere is really nice, the place itself is worth a visit, so different from any bar I've been. The food is very tasty, the fried cheese is the best! The beer is great. I'll definitely go back. Really worth the wait (it gets very busy), better to make a reservation.

As the name suggests, this place is clearly a local hangout. It looks like a food hall or cafeteria, with servers getting the food behind glass covered counters with women in hairnets preparing it. It's really large in size and has lots of tables. The prices are very cheap and reflect the small portions-- two or three items would fill... More

Prague is known for its beef/steak tartare or Tatarak. I ordered it on each and every restaurants we've been to and IMO, Lokal has the best among all the restaurants I've tried. Fried cheese was also good and the ham. They place is always crowded, hence the service was not that good. It's a nice place to go if you... More

Lokal is a fun beer hall that is popular with both tourists and locals. Reservations are a must! Goulash and sausages are terrific. Beer is great too. Service is a bit abrupt but efficient.

Opened 6 years ago, purposely stark, like what it may have looked during the Communist era. Food was excellent, and Pilsner Beer too. Learned that the foam is the sweet part.

Staying in Stare Mesto (Old Town)

Neighbourhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighbourhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
