We met some colleges here and this had no choice. It's a relatively expensive place compared to other restaurants in Prague. The food was not bad, portions rather small... The decoration seems authentical at first sight and I guess remains so to the 90 person Russian tourist group that entered the place with us. A closer look reveals that the... More

Greeted by accommodating and prompt staff who were quick to make a table for us (party of six). A detailed menu of drinks and food, with allergies listed (a good place for individuals with a gluten and lactose intolerance). The food was delicious and very filling, well priced with a live band playing.

First night in Prague and looking for traditional Czech meal. This place was recommended by Scenic Cruise line representative. Looks like nice typical bar/restaurant until you look at the menu. All item on menu are typical Czech dishes. I ordered the Prague ham starter dishbwich is a plate full of very mild thinly sliced ham served with a small helping... More

Prague is awash with bars and restaurants, and with many in the main tourist squares and streets, it can be difficult to discern the good ones from the mediocre. For many, a quick meal, which might have a degree of Czech authenticity is enough, before looking for the next meal from a chain burger joint. But La Republica offers that... More

We visited La Republican as we were staying nearby. The pub had great atmosphere and had organised live music. The beers and food are very reasonably priced.

Staying in Nove Mesto (New Town)

Neighbourhood Profile
Nove Mesto (New Town)
Nearly 700 hundred metres long, Wenceslas Square represents the most frequent and buzzing crossroads of the city. The National Museum in the upper part of the square watches over your spending spree in countless shops and retail stores lining the entire square, which ends at Na Příkopě, the most famous shopping street. When tired or broke, you can explore the city's underpasses, which can take you to the Old Town or to the courtyards of art nouveau houses with secret gems of greenery, white benches and rose bushes that provide unexpected peace in the midst of the city. Be sure to pay a visit to the traditional cafés, classic Czech pubs, cinemas and theatres. National Theatre near the river has a lot to offer to foreigners. Go to the river bank and enjoy live music and drinks while watching a sunset behind Prague Castle.
