Czech food is hearty and meat based so this restaurant- with its subtle and creative Mediterranean cookery and enty of fish dishes - was a welcome oasis. Friendly efficient service as well as great food. We liked it so much we went back the next evening! Highly recommended

Visited the restaurant with my wife and it was perfect, from the starters to the desserts - Tasty, original and smart but not trying to be too sophisticated. Starters were large and prices were very fair - best meal we had in Prague!

First thing first: what a beautiful place - feels like you're at someone's living room, with a really good taste: cosy and romantic. We ordered the Calamari and fish soup ravioli for starters and the main courses: artichoke and asparagus with ravioli and the monkfish. Best made calamari ive ever had, monkfish - tasted for the first time - was... More

Only Daniel's in Dresden has come close to La Veranda in terms of quality of presentation and comfortable surroundings on our trip this fortnight. Great maitre d who welcomes you without arrogance to his world of flavours. Trust him to select your wines by the glass to enhance each course.

La Veranda was recommended. What a good suggestion. Smart without being too formal. Good service - people who take delight that you're there and enjoying the ambiance and the food. The cuisine was faultless. We both had a dish with beetroot and feta. Great dressing and presentation. To follow, guinea fowl. Also delicious. Simple, refreshing deserts. Overall, excellent.

This was a cozy yet busy restaurant. The food was amazing as was the service. We had complimentary bread with infused olive oils, 2 glasses of wine each, the special entree (flank steak) and the monkfish, 2 desserts and 2 after-dinner liqueurs. Every bite was heavenly and before the tip it was about $97. Amazing! If any reviews say the... More

My wife and I rounded off a fantastic break in Prague with dinner at La Veranda......and it was wonderful. Lovely vibe, fantastic service and the food was outstanding (I had the calamari starter and a halibut risotto from the daily specials). Well worth a visit!

Great restaurant. Meal was delicious and not too expensive for us. Where I come from it would have been double the cost. Flavours matched perfectly by the chef.

Staying in Josefov

Neighbourhood Profile
Josefov
Josefov houses Prague’s Jewish community. This small neighbourhood centered around Široká street is completely surrounded by Staré Město (Old Town). As the former Jewish Ghetto, today all that remains are a few synagogues and the oldest surviving Jewish cemetery in Europe. The narrow streets were once small enough that a person could touch the houses on both sides. You can still feel the dignity and history this neighbourhood carries in its legacy as Franz Kafka’s birthplace. Nearby streets are full of kosher restaurants, museums and antique bookstores.
