we came to this cafe as a recommendation from our old friends who visiting Prague in the communist era, He remembers when many professors from the institute are fired and work here as waiter or Barista. The atmosphere is very nice, the architecture and the interiors are so classic and show how gigantic this place at the time of rebellion.... More

Nice authentic Czechs food, reasonably priced although sneaked a charge for bread we hadn't asked for (71 czk!). Service was super fast with literally no break between starter and main. Ruined slightly by non smoking section adjacent to smoking so may as well have been sat with them!

It offers great view to the river and the castle, it is big classy and vintage. It is worth it to sit by the window and drink your coffee.

Had cup of coffee here on a cold morning. Well, service was basic, coffee was expensive and bitter. Atmosphere was peaceful, and the list of breakfasts looked amazing. Would like to taste, if possible one day. Place was almost empty. Because of the prices maybe?

Wonderful cafe, like time has stood still. Get a seat by the window if you can, lovely view of river and castle. I had read about the historic and literary connections and wasn't disappointed. My favourite cafe in Prague.

Wonderful atmosphere, elegant and old-fashioned (Czechoslovakian style). We loved its inner architectonical style. Very central. Piano playing. English spoken. Some young couples kissing. Too bad that smoking inside is permitted.

Slavia was my favourite place to go for coffee, tea, soup or little treat dessert. With it's amazing atmosphere, and beautiful view of the National Theatre, piano evening was hard not to love it. I havenmt been to Slavi in about 5 years, and was really looking forward to visit this morning. When I walked in, half empty, fresh feeling... More

Not nice waitresses, rudely asked for a tip, nice cakes, reasonable coffee. Smoking allowed indoors, There are other excellent cafes all over prague center which are cheaper and much better.

Thank Shay P

Neighbourhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighbourhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
