We chose HalaszBastya restaurant to welcome the New Year. The restaurant location is perfect: a breathless full view on Pest and the Danube. The restaurant is superb - the dining area is located in the bastion and decorated with natural stone and crystal lighting. The staff is super cordial, efficient and very discrete. The meal - a 7-courses menu has... More

I went with a group of 10 people and we had a fixed menu. The restaurant is located high on a hill overlooking the city at the Fisherman's Bastion it is surrounded by beautiful old buildings and a church all lit up. The interior is true old world style with soaring ceilings, fabulous woodwork, spectacular chandeliers and a view to... More

We found this place by accident while visiting the Fisherman's Bastion. The hostess was describing the New Year's Eve dinner. After hearing the details we decided to book a table. The restaurant was amazing, fantastic, awesome! The wait staff were very friendly, very attentive, very professional. Watching them "perform" was like watching a culinary ballet. Everything was coordinated and timed... More

What a fantastic time we had for our Christmas day meal. We entered and were led through to the rear and then up some stairs and got a little worried. However do not be disappointed we were led to the turret with just 5/6 tables and a wonderful view and ambience. We loved the food and the wine chosen by... More

We loved, loved, loved it here! Outstanding service, friendly polite staff, amazing panoramic views of Budapest and delicious food. The Fisherman's Bastion Restaurant is open year-round with a variety of services. The main entrance to the restaurant is located at the right-hand side of the structure, behind the Matthias Church. Visitors enter the restaurant by passing through a beautiful wrought-iron... More

After much searching, I decided that this would be a great place for a special Christmas day lunch. We were not disappointed. The restaurant setting is spectacular and as the lunch service wasn't busy, we virtually had a whole room to ourselves with our table offering views straight down over the Danube to the parliament buildings. The service was excellent... More

Don't visit here if you don't want your lunch/dinner ruined. My sister and I decided for lunch here as it's known for its view. We went into the restaurant, greeted by the waitress at the reception area. So we informed her that we'll need a table for two. She seemed reluctant, scanned us through from the corner of her eye,... RESTAURANT is located inside the Fisherman castle at Buda castle area. Since it's on a hill, if sat by a window you get stunning views overlooking the river and town. It is elegant and with a very nice atmosphere. They also have live classical music. FOOD is tasty and artisticly displayed. We chose the Halaszbastya menu matched with wines. It... More

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighbourhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
