My wife and I were staying in Buda at the Hilton. It is right across the road from this retardant. We ate there twice and loved it. The food was fresh, well prepared and delicious. We were craving some vegetables along with some classic Hungarian food and this was the perfect place. The service in Budapest has been consistently good... More

This cute restaurant is about a 2 minute walk from the Hilton Budapest on Castle Hill. Andrew was our server and he was great! He recommended several Hungarian dishes and they were very good. Reservations recommended. We will definitely go back!

Our party of six stayed in the Pest-Buda Hotel and ate at the bistro each evening, as well as breakfast in the mornings. The food was excellent and the service wonderful. We thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of our stay here and our dining experiences.

Delicious food, polite and nice staff. Good beer. A bit pricey place.. Recommend it if you're not on a low budget!

Loved this place. Had not read any reviews before going there. Fantastic meal in a locals place. Under $50 for two meals, 3 beers, and one dessert (which was more than enough for two to share). Excellent service.

This little bistro is very friendly and a comfortable place to eat and drink. We had a good table in the back which was fine. My mistake was in knowing what I wanted to eat but after discussing my choice with the waiter was instead persuaded to order something unknown to me. Therefore I cannot complain but what I got,... We ate here on our second night in Budapest. V busy and averagely priced £50 for 2 with a drink each. Fast and friendly service and only 5mins away from The Hilton where we were staying. Highly recommend.

This restaurant was reserved by a person we were traveling with, she hoped it wasn't a "tourist trap," It didn't dissappoint. It is a lovely little place, with excellent food . Our waiter Andras was very friendly and efficient. He went out of his way to make sure we were happy and taken care of. I would recommend a reservation,... More

Originally didn't want to eat in the touristy district but we were starved and the reviews were positive of this place, we were delightfully pleased. The service was terrific, the waiter, Tibor gave us good device on what to order, paired the dishes with a delicious local wine and we truly enjoyed the meal. Started with a goulash soup and... Pest-Buda doubles with Grandma’s homestyle Hungarian kitchen, using the best ingredients with love and care from our talented chef, Lajos Lutz . We only carry Hungarian wines rich with personality and like to highlight those special bottles that are the territory of true wine aficionados.

Pest-Buda Bistro is on the ground floor of Pest-Buda Hotel, the oldest hotel in Hungary, originally opened in 1696.

Pest-Buda is an important gastronomic institution honoring Grandma’s Hungarian kitchen for several decades.

Together with Zsolt Litauszki we have worked for months to rediscover several Hungarian recipies and master the art of baking the perfect artisanal flamed pie. Chef Lajos Lutz is running a soulful kitchen devoted to Grandma’s Hungarian classics made with love and care.

The combination of top-notch gastronomy and beautiful wines is both fresh and traditional without succumbing to typical Hungarian restaurant cliches. The whole experience is, of course, amplified by the Buda Castle’s stunning medieval setting.

We only carry Hungarian wines and only those with a distinctive personality, reflective of a distinctive wine region. We feature several rare selections often not found anywhere else, and our extensive list is constantly changing.

Pest-Buda is for You to enjoy 24 hours. Eat, drink, sleep… with love!

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighbourhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
