The confectionery is located on the slightly worn-out Rákóczi road. A 10-minute walk from Keleti Railway Station or 5 minutes from Blaha Lujza Square metro stop. I do not want to repeat the web page. A lot of people understand the place for centuries. Calm,...More

We originally planned to go to the New York Cafe for some treats before a performance of the Nutcracker, but after reading the horrible reviews, we opted for our second choice, The Hauer. It clearly should be anyone's first. FABULOUS dessert presentations of all the...More

Old place with a lot of history and tradition. Beautiful selection of cakes and coffee. A little on the expensive site but well worth it.

With 1930's music playing you feel a bit like you've stepped back in time in this charming little cafe. The food, although a limited selection outside of pastries, was interesting, and reasonably priced.

Coffee and cake excellent in an old fashioned environment. Good choice of a variety of cakes. It is not clear whether there is waiter service or not when you enter the cafe. There are no menus set out and not clear what is on offer....More

It's great that Hauer has reopened after a long hiatus. Originally opened in the 1890s, it's one of Budapest's relatively small number of cafés from Austro-Hungarian days. Hauer's reopening represents a labour of love - its furniture looks original and the overall decoration is pretty...More

This I'm happy to say is my local coffee shop. Just reopened after many years out of business they've faithfully restored the place to recreate an old style viennese cafe or what I imagine that to have been. They've avoided it being a kitsch movie...More
