Nice and cheap hungarian food!! Very friendly service. Highly recomended. Roasted chicken is excellent, but not as good as the cherry sauce 😊

Highly recommended for lunch. Sit down, order (or have the owner tell you what to eat!) and leave satisfied. Prices are very reasonable and service is good - chicken paprikash recommended!

Since 1947, Kadar has been serving no frills, straight to the point, delicious traditional homestyle Hungarian meals at great prices. No fancy wine glasses, plates or silverware, and the sparkling water served out of a plastic seltzer bottle, this is old school and it is good! They only open during the day and the portions are just right for a... More

The food look simple and the restaurant too but its just great food. look out for the hours, open only 11:30-15:30... only half menu in english but if you'll ask the chef he will happily explain all the dishes.

We were sauntering around in old Pest and we found this restaurant just following a couple of families of happy hungarian met while, going in their favourite home cooking resaturant. Nobody inside speaks any language but hungarian, the owner and his wife are attentive and earnest, you share your table with other (hungarian) customers and you order just pointing at... More

I had a great lunch here at this out of the way restaurant. The meals are honest and wholesome, service is attentive and friendly and all at a great price. I would most definitely make my way here when in Budapest again. It's a tad out of the way and if you didn't know it was there you would walk... More

Tucked in a square in District VII this little pearl awaits your discovery. It was a crisp cold blue day & a swim & a long walk I had worked up a healthy appetite. The menu is not for the faint hearted - the portions are large, home cooked, carb & meat heavy. Delicious! The friendly owner greets you from... More

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.
