Not far from Buda castle you can find typical local restaurant with menu containing local meals, like Jókai bean soup, classical goulash soup, csirke paprikas, and, finally Makos guba dessert. Enjoy!

Simple traditional Hungarian food, cosy, simple atmosphere. Typically the place where you pop in when you don't feel.like cooking on a week-end. The service is very fast and kind.

We were recommended to go here by our tour guide for local cheap food and it didn't disappoint. Good portion sizes and great food - beef goulash soup and paprika chicken v v nice. Only let down was came a little too quickly meaning we were in and out in no time!

I ate here more than ten times in the past few years, I have to say I was always satisfied with the ordered dishes. They make One of the Best Italian style Pizzas in Town (trust me I'm Italian). The place is cozzy. The waiters are always fast and kind, and I found even the prices ok compared to what... More

We ordered the Hungarian plate for two, there was enough on the plate to feed four!! Chicken, fried cheese, pork, mushrooms, rice, chips, salad pickles, all delicious. All served by a cheerful waiter and very good value for money. I don't think many tourists eat here, it appeared to be full of locals eating goulash!

My tour guide recommended this restaurant so i headed here after the tour. I didn't feel staff were kind. But the food was amazing. Chicken was beautifully cooked and I loved the sauce and Hungarian pasta. I want to know how they cook chickens.

I had the beef goulash, it was the best I had in Budapest. This is a nice, local restaurant, with great prices.

If you are in the area is a good choice for traditional food, local kitchen. Prices are very cheap and the food is much better than tej majority of restaurants which pretend being authentic.....

A great local restaurant with traditional food and good vibes. We got a recommendation from a woman on the street, the goulash sup is great.

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighbourhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
