My expectations were low based on other reviews. Like most places on Queen Charlotte track, I found it expensive for what it was. But was pretty, comfortable, and the fish & chips in the bar were reasonable given the remoteness. It was too cold to swim or go in the pool -- but the pool did appear open and clean.

We stayed at Protage while walking the Queen Charlotte Track. The man at reception was very plesant and helpful and the highlight was the steak. IMHO this is a three star establisment at very best. Resort seems an over statement. Based on what I know now I would stay somewhere else if possible. The ride up the hill to the... More

we had the chicken tandoori and garlic bread starters. They were good. We shared the lamb loin for main, It was good. We had crème brule for desert. IT was horrible, /there is not any choice available in this area and after a long tramp on the track we would have eaten anything. This was just ok, even to tired... More

There is nothing wrong with the apartment. You have as stated on the internet page the view, a good bathroom. But there is something lacking in the bedroom as in the public areas. Like the new management does not know if they should go Indian or keep the British side. The only good design approach is the restaurant as they... More

Room lovely clean, great view and service very good. Butter chicken to die for. Owner gave us a lift to the ferry which was very kind and saved us a long walk up a steep hill!!

Didn't stay here but ventured down in the morning for a coffee. At $6 (!!!!!!!) for a mocha and $6.50 (!!!!!!) for a soy latte we hoped the quality would be good but it was terrible. Would skip the coffee altogether next time - I'd rather be decaffeinated with $12.50 in my pocket than drink coffee here. No way does... More

We went there for lunch after getting married there 5 years ago. Wow, it has really changed. The food and service were terrible. But the worst thing was the state of the grounds and facilities, which were very run-down. What was once a nice banked lawn overlooking the bay has been ruined and even had what looked like a trailer-load... More

We visited the Portage Hotel for lunch with a group of friends for a days ride. When we arrived we were saddened to see the state of once an amazing place. At the height of Summer the place was very quite, smelly rubbish skips close by which smelt terrible, overgrown gardens, a very dirty unkept pool and all in all... More
