Staff was friendly and the food was fine. Nothing to rave about but not sure I would wait that long to go back.

My wife and I walked to this restaurant from the White House during the "Cold snap" which accompanied the surprise snow storm. It had been highly touted by our former Uber driver, so we thought this was a good choice. You have to make sure that the hostess is aware that you are NOT sitting at the bar (self-seating) or... Breakfast here was delicious! We had the strawberry and cream waffles and steak & eggs plate. The bacon is great, and the orange juice is the best I've ever had! We will definitely be back next time we're in the city.

Waited 20 minutes past out reservation time. Then had to wait 1/2 hour for our cocktails. Poorly managed front of house, but the food was actually very good.

Suggest making reservations...we did not and had to wait for a table. Food and service were wonderful and that completely made up for the wait!

It was a delightful experience. Our first visit. Delicious food, ambience and service. We like their commitment to sustainability. No plastics. Come hungry and be sure to make a reservation. Food choices were outstanding and a nice variety. Loved it!

The food was great- Lobster Mac & Cheese was delicious, and the cucumber vodka drink was amazing. Decent menu of American food. Problem was the restaurant cannot handle the crowd that comes - people waiting all along the stairwell and in the lobby so no one could pass through. There are so many restaurants in DC, not sure you need... More

My wife and I attempted to eat at this place one Sunday the last time we visited DC and we came without reservations which turned out to be a bad idea, We were told it would be a 2 hour wait so we left. This time we reserved a table and they seated us promptly when we arrived which I... More

Starving and having just landed in Washington D.C., my boyfriend and I saw this establishment on Yelp on the train ride to the city. Seeing the raving reviews, we decided to make a reservation. I would strongly suggest making a reservation. Without it, I would have been looking at waiting 30 minutes to an hour at 10:45AM on a Monday.... More

Description
Founding Farmers, the Greenest Restaurant in DC, is owned by the more than 40,000 family farmers of the NDFU, serving American inspired real food and drink with an emphasis and focus on cooking from scratch. While our restaurant is supplied by hundreds of family farms everywhere, that doesn't mean we know every farm, and that doesn't mean we never have to buy product from the traditional (corporate) supply chain, but it does mean we're working hard to direct our purchasing dollars where it aligns with our values. We're serving the best food we can, made from scratch in our kitchens every day. Our innovative, American dishes are made primarily with pure ingredients honoring the farmers and their hard-earned bounty.
