Please note that the owners have changed the name from Eatonville to "Mulebone". The menu is essentially unchanged. The decor is also unchanged. Food has gotten even better!

After travelling for a few months, this was a real gem. I hadn't been to the South at this point, but this renaissance, vegetarian southern comfort food absolutely hit the spot. So much so I'm still thinking about it a year later. The corn bread was melt-in-the-mouth perfect, the mint juleps on point, and the cajun mushroom loaf to die... More

We have gone to this restaurant many times. The food is great and so is the service! We love the sweet tea.It is now closed and being renovated as the Mulebone.

This has been one of our "must have dining experiences" in DC for over 18 months. However the last two visits disappointed a little. The food was delayed (BUT DELICIOUS) and the tables and floor was dirty. After large parties, someone needs to clean the floor. Once a baby just basically through the food on the floor. The other time... More

I was disappointed to see that Eatonville has closed permanently. It was one of my "go to" places in D.C. but it looks like it no longer exists. boo-hoo

i enjoyed the atmosphere, staff, service and food equally well. The atmosphere is comfortable, especially on a lazy Sunday afternoon. The staff is very friendly. The service is very good. And the food is very tasty. Bueno!

We were recommended to go to Eatonville by a friend to try some delicious southern food. I just wish there were more surprises. Unfortunately the starters were the best thing, so mains felt a little boring. We ordered fried green tomatoes (highlight!), buttermilk fried chicken, polenta and mac and cheese. OK, the polenta was a disappointment but everything was very... More

First time going to this restaurant with some friends and will definitely be going back. The atmosphere is very cool, with a mix of trendy and classic art. I had the fired chicken with Mac and cheese and the green beans. YUM... we also had a couple pitchers of the Georgia Peach which was equally yum!

Friends took us one night for dinner. I ordered the fried chicken. It was pretty good but nothing to write home about, however the corm muffins served with dinner were outstanding. I would have bought them to take home if they sold them to go. Most everyone seemed to enjoy their meals, On the negative side, we had to wait... More

This is a book lover's restaurant, named after a famous author and across the street from an homage to another. The reason they are across the street instead of right next door is due to a fissure in their friendship. Part of the fun is learning about the authors so I'm keeping it intentionally out of this review. The food... More
