I had never had Ethiopian food before, but my nearby innkeeper (at Windsor Inn) highly recommended Keren so I walked a few blocks and gave it a try. It was OUTSTANDING! Keren is quite small, so at the innkeeper's suggestion I went there early (around 5:45) and got a great window seat. Everything -- the spicy beef, the spicy chicken... More

I had the breakfast special, which must be the best deal in town. The food was great. The only disappointment was the ordinary roll served with it instead of injera. I wish I'd had the time to come back.

Great food, really good prices & friendly staff. We had fish based dishes, quite large portions, so be careful not to order to much. The Pinot Grigio was a great addition to the fish, so I highly recommend it. Definitely a must in DC.

First time at Keren. A business colleague (who knows DC) and I had dinner. I was blown away by the flavors and spices! It was absolutely delicious! We had grilled beef and chicken with a veggie combo. I'm not much of a vegetarian, but I have to admit that I could have gorged myself on the lentils, chick peas, and... More

I found this restaurant online and I went there trying to eat something different and new. I was greeted by a very kind woman and waited for a table no more than 5'. Then, the best part of the night came: the waitress Natsa. She was so kind, respectful and caring that i was already happy even before trying my... More

I have wanted to eat here for a while and just never gotten around to stopping in, either because it was full (not a huge room) or because I was between meals, Well, today, I was walking by on my way home via lower Adams Morgan/Dupont and decided take out was in the cards. I sipped a beer while I... More

Went to this local Eritrean eatery and had excellent food. I had the veggie combo which came with cabbage, two kinds of lentils, potatoes, salad really way more than I could eat. Everything was really tasty. My husband had the fish combo and really liked it too. The service is great, everything is cooked to order and they aim to... More

This was our first experience with Eritrean food. This place is tiny, so we had to wait a little bit, but we sat at the bar, so we didn't wait long. The service was excellent. Everyone was friendly and very quick to answer our questions. We asked for the spice to be held to a minimum as we did not... More

I will be back! Great food. Quaint and charming (unassuming small space). I was dining alone on business. The veggie sampler was delicious. Lentils, cabbage, potatoes, spinach, salad greens on the injera bread. The waiter also brought out some spiced beef and a chickpea pulse to try when I was asking about other dishes. The servers were very kind. I... More

This is one of DC's many Eritrean restaurants, but it tends to be overlooked by the better publicized and established Ethiopian community in the city. It's a small place, but offers a fantastic dishes, coffee, and service. There is no review on TripAdvisor for this restaurant (there is one on Yelp!).
