It is expensive but it really is a food experience. The restaurant is very comfortable, classic style, with a nice fireplace. Costumers dress smart. The service is very carefull with different staff for different tasks. All this said you get to peak 4 or 6 plates of the menu talk come in small propotions but all together more than enough.... You really can't go wrong here. The bar is lively, the restaurant always has a great menu and wine of all ranges. This weekend we had Stevie as our server and she was wonderful and made sure we had a great time. Some servers have been a bit stuffy. She was not at all uptight.

Periodically, I organize a wine dinner for some of my working era friends and their spouses. Yesterday evening (corkage is free on Tuesdays), the twelve of us gathered at Georgetown's 1789. Our experience was absolutely top-notch. The restaurant gave us a lovely, atmospheric and private alcove on the first floor, provided warm, skilled and attentive service with all the glassware... 1789 was a special occasion restaurant for us early in our marriage but we had not been back in many years as my husband's health has declined. Last night was his 47th birthday and our 21st anniversary. He is a frail quadriplegic in a large cumbersome electric wheelchair. The staff, from the valets to the maitre d'hôte to the waitstaff,... 1789 is a hidden Gem that I stumbled across whilst in Georgetown. It couldn't be any more quaint and romantic. The service is just an epitome of what luxury dining should be. The food is very very fresh but smaller in proportion. Although this is a downside, I can say that it is truly filling. The restaurant manager is amazing.... More

We are a group of five who go here most Christmas seasons as a tradition. We had a most pleasant time. I had the Campanelle (with spiced duck sausage, braised Tuscan kale, candied pecans ) as my appetizer, my wife got the house salad (which is not on the menu--you have to ask). We both had the short rib as... More

The service was great. The ambience conducive to a romantic meal or some sort of quiet celebration. We went to it because my daughter and husband wanted to dine there and of course we were the ones picking up the bill. Because we were visiting during the holiday season we granted her wish. The next night we ate at Blue... More

This restaurant is very pretentious. The food has no interest at all and the prices for food and beverage are just crazy. The service is ok at least.

This restaurant tucked away off the main street is apparently popular with graduating students when their parents treat them. The reception is courteous but not speedy which can cause problems at popular times when many people (well, more than 4) arrive at the same time. The service is classy (serving and removing from the correct sides) but the food is... More

Old world charm at its best. Setting better than the food. Foie gras torchon too salty, beef tartar nice but too salty, the crab fondue with uni was nice though there was way too much mashed potato - a small plate of mashed potato with crab on top. Bucatini with chicken livers just ok they should have refined the sauce... More
