This is a great place to grab a snack as you go through the National Building museum. All the food is very good!

Pre-packaged food in cases. Entire place wedged into a narrow, dim area. Three hightop tables seat 2 and you can barely fit yourself into them.Food is same as at any airport or other place where they sell packaged sandwiches. Kind of a shame for a Museum on Architecture! No effort put into the place. Was sorry we hadn't eaten AFTER... More

Not much more than a closet in the back of the museum Firehook serves yummy goodies at bargain prices for a downtown DC location. My son had a ham and cheese croissant. I think it was 2.75 but would have been well priced at nearly double that. Four baked goods, four drinks (one iced coffee/cocoa) and our bill was just... More

Grab a coffee, salad, sandwich or cold drink at Firehook and find a place at one of the tables in the main atrium, and settle down for an enjoyable break from sight-seeing. A lovely place to spend a half-hour relaxing before taking the free Museum tour or visiting the great Museum gift shop.

As an out-of-towner, finding this location was a bit tricky. I didn't realize it was actually in the National Building Museum. I was meeting a friend for coffee and she too, a DC resident, had some trouble finding it. It's located in that big red building - National Building Museum. I didn't try any of the baked goods, but they... More

A very limited selection, but good food and drink. Cookies are fresh-baked and delicious and the coffee is good. And of course the setting is among DC's most dramatic interior spaces, so leave time to linger at the tables...

It is nice to have this modest cafe in the lovely building museum for a cup of coffee, a sandwich or salad, or some baked goods. Do be careful re the last, the cookies occasionally are pretty old, but the folks behind the counter are friendly and efflcient and it is convenient to have it available after spending time at... All entrees are fresh, tasty, with a wide variety of choices available - sandwiches, salads - greens, potato, or pasta. Firehook is good for coffee & a cookie or a light meal. The coffee menu is thorough offering lattes, iced coffees, as well as the traditonal cup. A very good deal! Pastries, breads, pies, muffins are also available.

Firehook bakeries always have great food and nice strong coffe. Compared to what you pay to eat clown food at the Smithsonian museums, this is a fantastic deal! The fact that you eat in the grand hall is just icing on the cake.

We ordered and paid for a cake for our son's 1st birthday (you have to pay in advance). When my husband went to pick up the cake they did not have our order. When my husband showed the receipt and asked what they could do they offered no solution. My husband asked if they had another similar cake that they... More
