Advance planning a weekend road trip, it took quite a bit of searching to find a restaurant on our route that would be open for breakfast and also offer a dining option in the ongoing Covid era. We found this combo available at Crazy Ottos. They boast the world’s largest Omelette. We take their word for it. Geez, it sure is large. We had one order of the super huge veggie omelette which was accompanied with hash browns. The potatoes were shredded in s larger than normal cut, further enhancing the large size aesthetic of the serving. Our second order was just a plate of two a la carte pancakes - also quite large. Dividing the plates between two of us, the food was all together more than we could finish. Seating was outside on portable tables under a tent like covering. Food was a bit on the bland side. In retrospect we should have asked for salt and pepper. Service was courteous. Glad to have found this option.

We took the ebike into town to pick up breakfast from Crazy Otto's Dinner. It was ok and had big portions.

This is just the kind of breakfast stop I like to make on a road trip: crowded with "in-the-know" local people, featuring interesting, kind of quirky decor (loved the Crazy Otto's wall mural inside), and serving hearty "down home" food in portions generous enough to stick with you for the rest of the day -- longer, if you take away a styrofoam box of leftovers. We're talking BIG here, and for way less money than you'd think.
The omelettes are awesome, stuffed and/or covered with lots and lots of whatever ingredients you've ordered, plus enough homemade hash browns to share among those more restrained in their breakfast orders. There's a half-omelette option that makes sense for people with light to "normal" appetites. I foolishly ordered the whole thing, mostly because the half portion was only a buck less, so I figured, why not? So I took half of it with me and dug into again the following morning, via the hotel microwave. Even then, I didn't quite finish all those hash browns.
There's more here than breakfast, but the point is that whatever meal you choose will likely be abundant, maybe spilling over the sides of the big plates. This is great for people embarking on strenuous hikes in the nearby mountains, or for those who are interested in making time and don't plan to stop again until they reach their chosen destination for the night. You can get all you'll need for the day right here.
It's also great fun, and to a person everyone working here was friendly and welcoming, even for one-time diners like us, just passing through.
Recommend you give Crazy Otto's a try if you're anywhere near Acton. It's worth even a longish drive to eat here.

We all had great food and service at a reasonable price. Our friends ordered the chicken tenders, my husband had a burger and I had the meat loaf. Everything was served hot and freshly prepared. We would definitely one back.

Driving home from Barstow, we got hungry just after we turned on to south hwy 14. My sister looked for places to eat and Crazy Ottos in Acton, CA was one of the choices. We realized however that we already passed it, but decided to back track 8 miles. It was worth the trip. I had the Ortega burger and my sister had the patty melt. The portions are large, so be warned. The food is very fresh and well prepared. No scrimping at this place. Plenty of everything. The Diet Pepsi was even really good. Best blend of carbonation and syrup. My sister said the ice tea was fresh brewed and that it was the best patty melt she ever had. French fries were good and not overcooked or greasy. We will definitely go back if in the area again. Good menu and the breakfasts looked really appetizing as well.

This is a little gem. There is always a small waiting time to get a table however it is so worth the wait!!! I had the ham steak breakfast that was incomparable to any breakfast I've had before. The ham was at least 1 inch thick and prepared just right.
Service was wonderful and the $$$ is very reasonable. We will definitely be back.

The place to go for a full, hearty breakfast. Wide range of food at a reasonable price. A finer type feel to it, with very friendly and efficient staff. Excellent omelets as well as the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had.

Crazy Otto’s has been an Acton favorite since it opened. It’s popular for its good food, fair prices and giant servings.
I like to go there for breakfast. They serve all the standard dishes with their own spin on it. Try the bacon, avocado & cheese omelette. It’s pretty darn good. Comes with tons of home fried potatoes and toast. Add a cup of coffee and you are set. Almost enough for the entire day.
Check it out... be warned that they are pretty busy on the weekend.

The food is awful but, you get a lot of it. Pancakes are burnt on the outside and raw in the middle. The Omelets are a joke, basically a clear egg like substance encapsulating cheese and ham. A one egg omelet at best. Never seen the same cook twice there either. Can't recommend it.

We stopped in by recommendation of TT campground. Service somewhat slow but we were not in hurry. Good selection I got philly steak and the flavor was GREAT. Meat was tough. They did not slice steak thin and it was WAY TOO CHEWEY. I almost sent it back but we were so tired from driving all day. If rested I would have returned it. If sliced thin like most philly steaks this would have been one of best taking I have ever had. Wife had Chef Salad and it was really great. Pricey as well. Or lunch with a wine and beer was 40.00. Pretty tough lunch bill even with a beer. And I got house draft.
