My wife and took an anniversary trip to Aspen, and after reading all the reviews here and on other sites, I booked a table at Matsuhisa for what was supposed to be our special anniversary dinner. We were not impressed. The menu is quite confusing, and our waiter was no help in navigating it (see below). While the food was... More

My son and I went there on our trip to The Southwest. The restaurant was the highlight of our dining experience for the entire week. The atmosphere and ambience was terrific and the service was first class. The food was nothing short of spectacular. Try the seaweed salad. I would never have thought that I would have said that in... More

We enjoyed the black cod and the sea bass, both excellently prepared and flavorful. Service was adequate, although not attentive. This is a unique Japanese restaurant with a different approach to Japanese food. If you want something more traditional than this is not the place to go. Of course, the prices are Aspen prices so about $150 for 2 people.... More

Always delicious but expensive. The food and atmosphere are great, dining outside or more intimate dining downstairs. Great food and sake!

Good quality Japanese cuisine. Extremely pricy. Had 5 slices of Blue Fin tuna (1.25" x2.25" X 3/32") for $33.00, oh also 2 mint sprigs and carrot slice. The noise level is over the top. Only a rock concert is louder. The wood chairs are cheap ( ala Ikea) hard maple with no pads and Formica covered tables. The food was... More

This place is on par with sushi den. I have been to the aspen location as well (im friends with one of the sushi chefs there). Some of the best sushi I've ever had. Fine dining sushi experience. Pricy but worth every penny. Great for couples dates or huge families too.

Unfortunately, at our table of four, I was the only true sushi lover, so we only had a small amount of sushi, with a couple of rolls (California and Dragon) and four separate fish dishes to complete our dinner. Then, we had some sort of shaved ice over ice cream dessert, with three separate fruit flavors and what appeared to... More

Lovingly referred to as "Matsu" this restaurant has THE BEST SUSHI EVER! This is not the restaurant for you if you don't like fish! LOL. The menu is a little confusing to the first timers (waiters are happy to make suggestions and explain). Not a lot of "rolls" mostly sashimi, but this is not your average raw fish, oh no...... More
