My wife and I were in Belize for a week of birding for our 40th anniversary. We had not gone into Belize City much because we tend to avoid "touristy" areas. We checked out Trip Advisor, looking for real Belizean food and this fit the bill perfectly. We located Marva's easily from the directions and asked the owner (?) for... More

Authentic local food, Marva was fun to talk with, very reasonable prices. Not a fancy place, the looks of many places we visited would scare some but we enjoy trying the real local stuff, not the made up for tourism places

Came in here on a suggestion and got a chance to rice the traditional stew chicken with rice and beans. We were only one of 2 tables there and service was relatively expedient. Food was very reasonably priced. They only accept cash and there is no AC. You can drink either soda or beer.

My friend was visiting Belize for the first and we needed to find somewhere to have lunch since his flight had just landed after 1:00pm. There was no rush and he enjoyed the food. We got the fresh watermelon juice to go with our meal.

Found this small restaurant in Belize city. It is where the locals go to eat. the meal was excellent, gluten-free and inexpensive. We had both the chicken and pork stew with rice and beans. and had sweet potato pone for desert.

Kind of in a scary part of town. No menu. The owner/cook just told us 2 local plates: stewed chicken or stewed beef (get the chicken, the beef was suspicious). Nothing fancy at all, no atmosphere, but if you want to sample local fare this does it.

Marva's Belizean Restaurant on West Canal Street is one of the last down home spots that you can get great Belizean food. During the week you can get a nice selection of local cuisine and the best conch soup on Tuesday or Wednesday. There's plenty of conch in every spoonful of soup and it's seasoned to perfection. Service is great... More

23 of us showed up from the cruise for lunch and Marva took care of us all in 1 hour. Everyone ordered, and the food was excellent.
