This low-key family-run restaurant is a good place to try out guatemalan specialities--like pepian, jocote, mole, and others. Very flavorful.

Our favorite restaurant by far in Xela. Very good and well prepared Guatemalan dishes (Jocom, Pepián, etc.) served by polite wait staff. Family owned restaurant, look for grandmother to stop in. Not to be missed if you are staying in Xela.
This is an excellent, friendly, family-run restaurant where you can taste the distinct flavors of various traditional sauces with well prepared meats. We had a family style meal and tried four dishes among three people -- all were great. Eat whatever the family recommends!
