The waitress made us feel right at home and the service was excellent. The food was very good. If traveling Route 66 must go!

My husband and I asked if we could speak with the head cook. He was pleasantly surprised to hear that we wanted to compliment him on the best tenderloin ever, He took time to share the story about the special breading used and how he acquired the "secret" recipe. But he did not/would not share the recipe. Homemade cakes and... More

Unique burgers. Old style cafe fries. Great service! Higher end prices for cafe but worth it. Cool atmosphere in a tiny town. Everyone smiling. The pie!! Best pie around! Blueberry, mixed berry, cherry, apple, chocolate, etc. This is why most people go.

Having a full meal here is very much on my to do list. I've stopped here a couple of times but only had pie which makes me feel a little guilty giving it an Excellent rating but the pie (This time it was apple.) is wonderful and so is the setting. It is a reconstruction of what was once here... More

I recently held a workshop in their event space. The room was beautiful, well equipped, and the food delicious. I will definitely hold another event there if the need should arise.

The Palms Grill Cafe at 110 Southwest Arch Street in Atlanta, Illinois, opened in 1934 when the town was a popular gas or lunch stop on U.S. Route 66, the nation's roadway from Chicago to the Southwest and Los Angeles. "Dancing every night, special chicken and steak dinners, we specialize in club parties," it advertised. Beginning in 1940, the Palms... More

This is a quaint little restaurant on Historic Route 66. It is decorated to look like it did when it opened (1930s or 40s). The food was very good and the atmosphere was relaxing. The counter has the little round padded seats, and the entire place took you back in time. I had the chili cheese dog. It was huge... More

The atmosphere was perfect for Route 66, the town is preserved and like taking a step back in time. The restaurant has a great diner menu and their pies totally rock!

A lovely little place with authentic period articles on display and next door to a Route 66 museum and near Tall Paul and Atlanta murals. Great pie - you must have some (and Billy Connolly says so, too)!! Friendly staff, good tea, good coffee, great pie...what's not to like?

Our first visit to an American diner. Original building with great history. We chose this diner as it was mentioned in the EZ66 guide. Good food, great pies and staff. Reasonable prices. You have to go here if you're driving Route 66 !

Description
Welcome to the Palms Grill Cafe...

It's not only the sound of the 1930s-40s music playing in the background...

It's not only the smell of the delicious, home-cooked, daily Blue Plate special wafting out from the kitchen...

It's not even the taste of that first forkful of made-from-scratch coconut cream pie (...And all the other great pies, too!).

It's when everything you've been hearing, seeing, feeling, smelling, and tasting combine
that you realize you're living the Mother Road the way it used to be.

Join us to experience Rt. 66 The way it was when the Palms Grill Cafe first opened up in 1934 along Rt. 66 In downtown Atlanta, Illinois.
