Gorgeous place, initial welcome and service was warm and inviting. Once he food was ordered, attentiveness went downhill and the wait for food was very long (over 30 minutes). Not all dishes came at the same time as well. Food was pleasant without any real highlights. Lamb tagine was the best dish, but needs sides to accompany

Followed the advice of trip advisor and we are so pleased we went. Lovely food, very reasonably priced in beautiful surroundings. Majestic but still cosy and intimate with candlelight and comfortable seating. Staff friendly and helpful. Directions from the square, find argana restaurant and keep left, keep heading straight on but to the left through the souks and follow signs... More

Really enjoyed this - excellent food, and the building is just gorgeous. Being an open courtyard, it was somewhat nippy in mid-November, but totally worth a visit. Worth booking first though - waiting for a table is less fun in countries that frown on drinking.

We were recommended to Dar Cherifa by our Riad who said it was one of the best restaurants in the Medina and also made the reservation for us. We were booked in for dinner but decided to find the restaurant during the day so we knew exactly where to go later on (there are some very small signs showing the... More

It's well hidden in between the busy streets of Medina but once you find your way there - you will find yourself in a sanctuary. It's so peaceful, calm - everything you need to take a break from the city.

I was first worried where I was going after taking several turns into an early, but on arriving at the restaurant, I was comforted by its calmness, and the view from the rooftop. We had several Moroccan dishes, which were well served and the waiters were very friendly. Its an ideal place for small groups, or a romantic hide-out.

I really enjoyed this beautiful restaurant in the center of the souk (it's hard to find in a small alley). The menu is very diverse and staff was nice. It's a busy place so make a reservation.

This meal was incredible, from start to finish. It's in what we were told is one of the oldest homes in the Medina and it's quite far in from the road. The entrance is off of a small, quiet street in the Medina and the walk up to the entrance is low and unassuming. We doubted we were in the... More

Came there 9pm with no booking and they sent us upstairs to wait until they would have a table available but never asked for our name (at least 6 tables waiting uostairs) once we got the table, food was great and surroundings were beautiful. Definitely recommend but try booking!

I was excited to come here after reading the reviews. I came at night but it was full so I came back the next day. I got seated downstairs by myself although it sounded like there were people on the roof. People that came in after me sat down but were then asked if they would rather go upstairs which... More

Description
Situated in the very heart of the souks, this building is a hidden secret, only found by the discerning and curious visitor, where history is recorded in the delicate tracery of the stucco and skilfully carved wood. In the year 2000 , Marrakech Riads, a leading player in the restoration of the riads of Marrakech, brought Dar Cherifa back to life, and simultaneously unveiled a hidden treasure of the medina, the refined decor of this building recalling that of the Medersa Ben Youssef, jewel of the Saadian era (16th century) and one of the finest monuments of Marrakech. Renovated with the greatest care and attention to detail, with the participation of renowned craftsmen so as to maintain its authenticity and splendour, Dar Cherifa welcomes all visitors eager to meet new and interesting people. It is a real cultural venue, hosting regular exhibitions, workshops, concerts and events. This inimitable space draws one into a meditative state of mind and heart. Everyone fortunate enough to visit this building says that they breathe an atmosphere of peace and serenity the minute they cross the threshold. The mention of Moroccan culture immediately implies Moroccan cuisine, and what more beguiling setting than this pure and refined interior for sampling a cuisine abounding in cultural exchange; a subtle blend of sweet and sour, the inheritance of Berber, Jewish and Arab-Andalucian influences. Enjoy!
