The restaurant's facade is plainly nondesript despite its hidden gems within. Everything is no frill - it simply strives on simplicity. Two things I quickly learned soon I stepped into the restaurant: that the waiters and waitresses don't speak English, and they accept only cash payment. Still feeling bloated from my food spree the day before, I ordered the egg... More

This place is value for money! We had tom yum goong, crab omelette and yellow curry crab. All dishes were great and inexpensive.  Only problem with this place is finding it. One of the addresses brought us 2km down the road.  This is where we found it: Krua Apsorn (ครัวอัปษร) Soi Samsen 1, Wat Sam Phraya, Phra Nakhon, Krung Thep... More

Great Thai food here for a great price. Some of the menu is pricier but you can get basic noodle and rice dishes, like garlic prawns with rice or chicken fried rice for around 80 baht! Tasted great and we were seated and served quickly. Lots of Thai people eating here as well as a fair few tourists. Had a... More

We've been here for dinner expect tasty food, quick service and nice environment. But what we found was dirty tables and some discarded food were in the floor. No staff were taking care of this. Also outside kitchen was EXTREMELY DIRTY. I won't come again.

Like most really good places to eat in Thailand the interior is not very appealing. But they fully compensate for with their splendid food. Not the standard tourist menu, but with very interesting dishes, quite a lot of seafood choices. The flavors are absolutely wonderful. The green curry is a just try. Do watch out, things are not spiced down... More

Don't be surprised if you have to wait. Regardless, it'll be worth it. Many of the tables are community tables. The menu comes with pics, but luckily we went with my cousin and how wife who is Thai. Two especially delicious dishes not to miss, the crab omelet in a dome shape and a vegetable with minced pork. The vegetable... More

I went here while on vacation. The food was good but it was clear from the beginning that they were not happy about me being there. They sat two Thai couples before me even though they showed up after I did. It took a half hour to even get someone to give me a menu. While I waited, there were... More

We popped in for a small lunch on a busy day. Most diners were Thai - and the place feels pretty authentic and non-touristy. Menu was in English though - and plenty of tasty things on it. Much better value than a lot of the other places we've eaten - and as many reviewers had pointed out - the curried... More

Good amount of food for each dish( we ordered around 10) and the quality was amazing, very close to Khao San road but such a different environment, old style and cool. Prices very reasonable, would highly recommend.

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighbourhood Profile
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
