Please don't call yourself a veggie friendly restaurant. In a 16 page menu the veggie options were stir fried vegetables or vegetable fried rice. To be veggie friendly I expect much more. Following a discussion with the server they provided a very average veggie pad Thai. It was also overpriced for my 'special' meal and for beer. Veggies beware.

We ate hear once on our trip to Bangkok. A great place on the river frequented by locals as well as some tourists. We had the sea bass with garlic and ginger - really terrific, in fact one of the best fish dishes I have eaten. The staff do not speak much English but luckily we were with our guide... More

A party of 17 of us had dinner here last week, enjoying a variety of soups and dishes (veg, chicken, seafood). We were the only table of westerners, everyone else being youngish, smart Thais; menu was in English and Thai but not a great deal of English spoken by the staff. Bill for food was 300 bhat per person (about... More

After sight seeing in the heat and humidity this was a most welcome sit-down lunch. Angela had to hire a taxi to get to this place - what a relief! We all sat down nearest to the water and ordered a long drink of local beer called Shingha. With the help of Angela we ordered a fish with rice and... More

Came here with a party of 7 for a few drinks. Can buy a large quantity of draft beer and just top up your glass whenever you are running low. Fantastic views of river with all the hustle and bustle of river life. Staff very friendly and helpful. The bar was full made up mostly of local Thai`s and only... More

A very nice and tasty meal alongside the river. Plenty of attentive staff. Clean toilets and surroundings. One meal came cold but they soon warmed it up.

For our last night in Bangkok we were trying to find something with atmosphere. Just the two of us, they tried to give us a non Riverview table (which are four for people). We had a chicken satay appetizer, though much smaller than the pictures made to appear, was delicious. Our pad Thai with prawns and stir fried asparagus was... More

Now (also?) called Buddy's, this came highly recommended by our Thai Guide. We were about the only non-Thai people in there, which I generally think is a good thing. We started with three starters to share, then a red, and a green curry. Service was good, but really was taken by the quality, range, and taste of the food. At... More

This is a great location on the river with a nice view. You can sit on the patio next to the river or in an air conditioned room. Some of the food was good, but none of it was excellent. And the dessert was terrible which is not a good way to end the meal.

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighbourhood Profile
Banglamphu
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
