Restaurant has unique decoration. Menu is extensive offering many options. We went on weeknight around 5:30PM. There were not many customers. We felt very much welcome. Staff offered very attentive service. We selected several Thai dishes. The fluffy pancakes with egg and bacon is the only western dish for a young kid. The special steam fish should be one of... I read so much about this place, and was looking forward to come taste the food, but it was a major put down. There was nothing special about this place, from the food, presentation of the dishes, the decor and the bad service. It was a Monday night, around 8:15pm. The restaurant was 1/3 full inside and all full at... More

Small and cozy local restaurant with great food! Lots of spice! Staff were friendly and nice! The only turn off was the location. The street was quite dirty and stinky where the restaurant is, and a bit of toilet odor due to the outdoor sewer next to the restaurant. But overall, the restaurant is a nice one and worth to... When they say amount the best - it's true. I could not have imagined beforehand that the minimalistic frontage and decor would lead to such a delectable meal. When you hear that it is good - just believe it.

This is a cosy Thai restaurant/café located in a quiet road off Silom. The restaurant is inviting, with local food/ingredents stored in large glass containers at the serving counter. The food comes in small dishes so you can order more to try various food. Service is very friendly. The food is above average and is a nice place to have... More

Came here for lunch--- the have a lot of salad options but not much else. I though the salad was good until I found a large hair it in. Needless to say I lost my appetite, they were nice enough to take some percent off our bill but we have no intention of returning

First off, the food. Taste is very average, nothing wrong with it - but also not worthy of going out of your way for. And in a city like Bangkok with it's diverse range of dining options, the offerings at Somtum Der are also not worthy of a return visit. Between the 2 of us, we ordered 3 salads +... More

As a middle age Thai foodie, I reckon I know a thing or two about Isan food. I am a big fan of Somtam Der's sister restaurants Supanniga, so I visited Somtam Der with fairly high expectations. Likes first. The small portions were a good idea as we could sample several dishes. The Somtam and spicy catfish soup were great.... More

If you're a tourist in the city and looking for reasonably priced authentic Thai dining (on a tourist's scale), this is a very good option. This restaurant (more like a café as others have described) is on Soi Saladaeng, about a 1-2 minute walk into the soi (street) off of Silom. Reasons to consider coming: (1) Reasonable pricing - We... Excellent Northeastern Thai cuisine and friendly atmosphere, newly opened and very welcoming. Great food served in "Tapas" style share plates. Beware the hot sauce that comes with the fried chicken thighs!

Staying in Silom

Neighbourhood Profile
Silom
Despite the lack of any major tourist attractions, this lively neighborhood is a favorite of many. Whether it's the (somewhat naughty) nightlife of Soi Patpong, the various handicraft night markets or the plethora of dining options that tickle your fancy, a night out in Silom is a must on every itinerary. It's worth a stop during daytime, too: join office workers on a quest to tasty street food during lunch and shop at Silom Complex for a great mix of Thai and international stores. After a day of strolling around the congested sidewalks, a visit to Silom's Lumphini Park, Bangkok's answer to NYC's Central Park, is a welcome change of scenery.
