After visiting the small but perfectly formed May Kaidee in Chiang Mai, where we had a fantastically tasty meal in a great atmosphere, with friendly staff, we were excited to see that there were branches in Bangkok. We were so disappointed. The Massaman curry, one of my all-time favourites, was horrid: the background taste was like Heinz tomato soup -... More

Veggie food can be found anywhere in BKK, but it's still nice to go to vegetarian places. May Kaidee's is the best in that regard! I enjoy the green curry most.

May Kaidee's story is that of a rural girl who came to the big city and cooked with her aunt. She has restaurant at the back of Thanon Tanao. If you head down Khaosan Road you will run into Thanon Tanao ( Burger Kings opposite and slightly to the right) i Her restaurant is in the alley behind Burger Kings.... More

We visited here on our first night after reading good reviews and were not disappointed. A very friendly welcome into a small, unassuming restaurant. We had the most delicious raw spring rolls with peanut sauce. So good that I've been thinking about them ever since! We both had the green curry and every mouthful was a delight! There were 2... Everything here was solid. The massaman curry, spring rolls and pomelo salad were all quite good. Would come back.

The May Zinger drink is awesome. Highly recommend the spring rolls, massaman and green curries. Simple but comfortable and bot too far feom the grand palace. Worth a visit.

One of the best vegan restaurants in bkk I have been too. Everything's made right in front of you. Very kind and super healthy and fresh. No problem to eat several meals in raw condition!

We only got a side dish (issan vegeterian), but it was very good. The restaurant also offers cooking classes (anywhere from half a day to three days).

If you're veggie, come here! It's delicious and reasonably priced... 4 mains, one starter and 4 drinks, £17. Nice!

We ate here at 7:30pm on a Thursday evening and the place was totally empty. We had the papaya salad, green curry and sticky rice. All the good was flavourful and well cooked and above all totally veggie! Price was good too. Only disappointment was the atmosphere as it was empty but maybe it's more of a lunch time/weekend place?

Thank Helen I

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighbourhood Profile
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
