Visited tonight, the only two people in the restaurant at 7.30pm on a Wednesday night. Shortly after another two couples arrived. We ordered Bruschetta special, followed by Lasagne for him & Fettucine Ragu for me. Both served with a ‘green salad’ to share. His Lasagne...was ordinary to say the least, surely served from frozen, dry, no bechamel between layers, just what appeared to be melted cheese over the top. My fettucine ragu whilst moist was bland & flavourless even after adding additional seasoning & powdered processed parmesan, To be honest we couldn’t get out of there fast enough. We went back to our hotel & enjoyed dessert there instead. Feel free to try this restaurant for yourselves…but it’s a big NO from us.More

Okay, I’ve never done this before but I feel conflicted about this place. The decor is first rate (proper Italian) the staff were lovely, but the food let it down. Ordered a focaccia which was bought in and bland. I ordered cannelloni which I thought...was microwaved and my wife had fettuccini with meat sauce, but which was nice. 5/5 for decor but 3-4/5 for food. Lacks passion and Italian flair, BUT food was a nice change from Thai and wasn’t bad, just could have been so much better. Also lose the serving trolleys, bit dated.More

I would say it is one of the best restaurants I had tried in Chiangmai. I have tried other Michelin recommended restaurants and it triggered me to doubt the rating system of Michelin. As I spent 6 days in Chiangmai, I decided to read others’...reviews on the top restaurants. As my family and I are tired of thai cuisine after 2 days here, we decided to try something else (not spicy) and we picked this Italian restaurant near our resort. We ordered the following and I would say they are even better than those Michelin restaurants in Hong Kong and Italy. The food here is sooo authentic, in traditional italian way and the olive oil and ingredients are of premium quality and fresh! - seabeam carpaccio (something one cant be miss) the mushroom and olive oil and cheese just escalates the flavor of this dish and even my demanding mother and sister are impressed with this! That seabeam sashimi is so fresh that it tastes sweet and not rubbery texture. They are so tender and elastic and fresh!!!!!! - gnocchi in pesto sauce: we ordered this deliberately..: coz if a chef can make fresh good gnocchi; it is a brilliant chef! Mama mia!! Their gnocchi is not too soft or too hard and it is a perfect match with the pesto sauce! We cleared the dish! - it is impeccable!!!! Ultimate testing for the chef — pizza with tomato and spinach!!!! First of all, we believe it is not easy to make coz if you cant master this dish; the spinach will make the crest of pizza damp!!!! It is sooooo amazing that they can make it sooo crunchy with good texture while the spinach tastes just right with the cheese and tomato! I ordered white wine that night and it goes so well with all the dishes! Actually we wanna order Tiramisu but we were too full. Before i left Chiangmai, i visited here again for their tomato basil fresh pasta and tiramisu! I just love it!!!!! I will definitely come again! Mrs Faro (not sure if i spelt it wrong or not) and team, I love your food a lot and i will definitely come back again!More

It is the service provided with the heart of Thailand as well as...the restaurant itself that so typically Italian. Perfect! Molte grazie per questa esperienzaMore

I had an excellent experience. Very nice place all food is homemade to order. The service was just perfect the waitresses are always there. This restaurant is next to Antara. This is probably one of the best Italian restaurants in Thailand.

After this experience Piccola Roma Palace will be on my "return list" for every Chiang Mai trip. The whole experience is really superb from the room decor, the menu, the table setting, the staff and most of all the food. We started with a large...salad and some smoked salmon with all the trimmings. Followed by the best Lasagne I have ever tasted for me ,with my wife having the Pasta Ragu. Dessert was a truly amazing Tiramisu. And accompanying this was an excellent bottle of Chianti followed by a complimentary Limoncello. What made this visit amazing however is the story about Chef Angelo and his wife Marisa setting up over 21 years ago. Sadly the Chef is now serving customers in the Sky however due to his foresight the legacy lives on with his long serving assistant chefs producing amazing food to his exact recipes. So please support her and taste her husbands truly amazing italian food. It's a Chiang Mai MUST!More

It has been two years since I have been able to visit Thailand. I made it up to Chiang Mail and my first night’s meal was a happy return visit to Piccola Roma. I have been eating Chef Angelo’s food for over 30 years. Though...sadly Angelo passed away last year, his wife Marisa is carrying on the tradition of fantastic Italian food that he taught his assistant chefs to cook!!!! Many of the meats and fish are imported and lots of the pasta is freshly made. The portions are enormous…. There is a large selection of imported Italian wines. Having a sweet tooth, I can truly say the tiramisu is the best I ever had… you need to save room for it. With so many restaurants closed in Chiang Mai because of the pandemic, it’s a testament to the quality of the food that Piccola Roma is still open. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Chiang Mai and want to eat real Italian cuisine!!!!More

The Worst Ever. How can a so called Chef treat staff and guesses like he does. He is a b. At first we were stunned by the « sea food » tray presented to us. Tuna was almost black and smelling! We ordered pasta and ended up...with a plate of juicy cheap spaghetti. Never seen something so disgusting and so pricy. Wine list is just a decoration just like the pictures on the wall. Lots of customers were heads down wondering what to do with their order... By chance we skipped the desert! Be ready to $$$$. No one knows what cooking means in that « restaurant »!!! A shame for Italy!More

We heard about this restaurant from a brochure in our hotel and thought we'd try it out for a change of pace from Thai food. The pasta had lots of flavour and was a good sized portion. The salad was fresh and well prepared. However,...we chose NOT to have a glass of wine with our meal, disappointing as that was, because the prices were ridiculous. Service was good, but nothing special. If you are in Chiang Mai and craving pasta, find a local restaurant and do your pocketbook a favour.More
