This is a comfortable, friendly local restaurant with appeal to both locals and tourists. Only a couple of options, so I suggest the house specialty bun bo nam bo. Situated in the Old Quarter a reasonable walk from Hoan Kiem Lake and the Water Puppets.

When a restaurant only makes one thing and it's still packed with locals, you know it's going to be good! The food comes quickly and is absolutely delicious. 60k for their pork salad. I loved it.

Next door to our hotel. Great food, just the one choice of dish. Cheap and cheerful and seems popular with locals too.

after one month traveling south to north, i came to the brink of starvation because i just couldn't get used to the taste and mostly couldn't eat anything than banh mi... this place is my saviour! beef noodle salad has everything in it; meat, greens, noodle, garnishes and soup cooked together into a delightfully harmonious dish. it's a lovely one... I visited for an early dinner. It is a small to mid sized restaurant with typical Vietnamese fare with a Mekong speciality. Inexpensive with good service.

recommended by a local the food in this street food restaurant is a marvel among the thousands of its sort -- try the eponymous beef noodle salad and see for yourself!

The noodle salad was fresh and delicious! It's an ideal place to have a quick healthy and cheap meal. Lots of locals as well, which always seems to be a good thing to me.

We went three times. Remember it's just one dish you go here for. So forget about anything else. The meal is so tasty. Simple. Clean and fresh. Cheap. Don't expect great service. Actually the service is fine. Just sit down and they will serve you. This is the best cheap "street food" and most tasty we found in Hanoi. If... More

This restaurant was great. Visited twice for lunch. Had the beef salad! Excellent food, really tasty, would highly recommend. The beef salad was 60,000 dong. So cheap for the quality! Full of locals which says it all.

Bun bo Nam Bo is marinating the beef, then comes making 'nuoc cham' and the pickled vegetables (shredded carrot and papaya). The pickled vegies is crispy, a little sour and a little sweet, which even makes me eat two bowls of the noodle at once. Remember to pickle the carrot (and papaya first, before marinating the beef) since it takes at least 1 hour to get a good flavor on the carrot.
