We came here on recommendation from a local guide. This is in a small alleyway that’s not obvious to happen upon, so there were no other tourists when we were there, only locals having a quiet breakfast. But the owners were very nice to us, and there is an English menu so we could point at what we wanted (not many options, so easy to decide on). Very tasty pho, sets you up well for the day!

its an interesting place! Its unusual for me to got up such early on weekend, gourmet could be the one!
Took a grab for this newly Michelin selected pho shop in Saigon is a must do before i leave the city! I would say, it worthy it. The soup is really good, i normally don't drink soup, and today i almost finished, big portion one!
Also the beef pie is yummy! Size is just perfect, few bites! Juicy inside and crispy outside!
It is a must go

Yummy authentic pho packed with flavour. We werent sure exactly where it was but the locals pointed us in the right direction down a small alleyway. Was busy when we arrived but patrons will offer you their table when they finish. The home made pastries wwre delicious as was the juices. But the food was still the hero with fresh greens and soft beef. Definitely a place to visit when in Ho Chi Minh City!

6:30am. First customer of the day, they were still pushing their bikes out as I took my seat. I had allowed extra time to reach this restaurant as it has a notorious reputation of being hard to find as it is located at the end of a long and narrow alley. The restaurant ebbed and flowed as I enjoyed a pate chaud starter followed by a bowl of delicious phở tái. There were plenty of accompaniments, super fresh Thai basil, Ngò Gai (sawtooth) & mint, which is far less common, but I found the mint added a great freshness to the already most excellent broth. There were also lime wedges, a plenty, endless raw sliced chilli, and lightly blanched bean sprouts. Some items that I didn't need on this occasion, hoisin & sriracha sauces. The other customers were exclusively Vietnamese, ether businessmen, or whole families with children of various ages. They came and went as I ate at a relaxed pace. The noodles were perfectly cooked, and the broth needed very little adjustment to hit the spot, just the juice of three lime wedges, a generous amount of chopped chillies, and the aforementioned mint leaves. For me, pho is not complete without Thai basil, and today's herbs were really fresh and vibrant. Some tables had been used three times over in the forty minutes I took to savour my breakfast. This restaurant has something of a cult following, and now I know why. They keep very limited hours, opening at 6:30am and closing three and a half hours later at 10 am. The food is prepared in a room on the other side of the alley, where there were some spill over tables and seats. Everything was spotlessly clean and efficiently run it is immediately obvious that they let the food do the talking for them, and I am happy to report it speaks volumes. This is my 21st bowl of pho for my 30 in 30-days challenge, and it easily jumped into 2nd best place, so it was a great find. I am a happy man, a very happy and sated man. Cost wise, I found it very reasonable, not cheap, not expensive, so no quibbles there.

Surprised that this local pho is in the alley of the shops! It’s yummy and not sweet. The family member will eat their own pho. Should be Ajinomoto free!

There's no menu but why would you need one? On our first day, we sat at a table, indicated "two" and that's all that was needed to order. A plate piled high with fragrant fresh herbs and a dish with banh pate chaud (a meat-filled pastry) were set on the table, followed a few minutes later by steaming bowls of excellent pho bo.
Taste the broth before adding any lime juice, chilis, herbs, etc - it's amazing! The "standard" bowl of pho bo will have slices of tender, still-pink beef that will "cook" in the hot soup. But by the second day, I managed to order my favorite kind: pho gun bo (beef tendon). Or try asking for pho dac biet (special) which might include a bit of all the cuts they have available.
Regardless of what you get, it's all delicious! They're open by 6:30am so get there early and get your day started in the most delicious way.

The pho was very good, but I did not find much difference compared to pho eaten in other places around Vietnam.

After having read a few convincing reviews about this restaurant, I decided to try it out myself. Not easy to find the place. It is located in a small alley in Pasteur. Walking up Pasteur (in the direction of the traffic), the alley is on your left hand side right next to Liberty Central.
Eating at Pho Minh feels like you are eating where locals do! The restaurant setup was expectedly very basic and the place was filled by Vietnamese people.
I ordered a Pho, two beef buns (see photo) and a Viet coffee with condensed milk. The waiters were very kind and everything was delicious. The bill was 109,000 VTD (~4.68 USD).
Give it a try and you won’t regret it! :)

If you want something local and authentic then I would highly recommend Pho Minh at 63/3 Pasteur street D1 in the alley next to Liberty hotel , it's taste way different and way authentic incomparision to Pho 2000, Pho Ong Hung or Pho 1954.
They never need any sort of online recommendation from tourists or marketing campaign but the family business has been carried on for few generations and their Pho always sold out before 10:00 AM in the morning.
They also offer homemade yogurt and of course you should not miss it out as a dessert.

Tucked down an alley next to Liberty Central Hotel on Pasteur. Keep walking and you’ll find it.
We’ve visited several times. For foreign visitors, a few things: no menu, no English, and they often sell out by 10am. Go for breakfast.
The Pho is more northern style (less spices and less sweet). I sometimes eat two bowls it’s so good.
I’ve hesitated to write a review before since the owners are very happy with their long-time locals business but it seems the secret is out.
There are many styles of Pho so who can say what’s best. For me, I crave a bowl at Pho Minh more than any other.

It's tucked away in a small alley and takes a little effort to find, but here you'll find a delicious bowl of pho for breakfast. When we were there, it was mainly locals and we were the only tourists.

There's no menu. Just walk in, sit down, and tell them how many you want.
They'll bring you two delicious pastries, and the pho of day. The broth is nice and light, the beef is tender, and the noodles are perfection.
Make sure you go early! They're only open till noon, but usually sell out before 10am. That's right, they only buy enough ingredients for the day and when they run out, they're done.
The place is full of locals, which is a good sign, but that also means don't expect them to speak any english.
Definitely worth trying, maybe even twice.
P.S. It's down an alley, then another alley.

While stumbling around trying to find the place, a helpful woman figured out my plight and pointed me down a small alley. Had heard this was one of the best bowls of pho in HCMC. They only serve one thing, beef pho. It comes with pate chaud, a Vietnamese meat turnover. The pho is tasty, as is the turnover. They also give you nice tea at the end. Definitely worth the exploration

This tiny restaurant is located down a small laneway across the road from a Family Mart Store which is onPasteur St. One needs to go down the laneway and then turn right past a small coffee shop and you are there. The place is painted a pale art deco green. The place serves only one dish which is Pho Bo (pronounceed Fur Bo) which is a beef noodle soup. You can get some tea there. They also serve on some days with the Pho Bo some yogurt ( which I didn't try but looks good) and on another day they had some small chicken pies which were delicious. It is for breakfast or brunch
