Located in Bui Vien Backpacker district, just down from De Tham to Saigon Mini Hotel 5, excellent decor, service, and food. We offer truly authentic Vietnamese cuisine. English speaking staff.

Pao is set in a nice quiet, very Vietnamese street off Bui Vien and appears to be a normal coffee shop. However they do really good food. The staff here always greeted us with a warm genuine smile and always provided us with first class service each time. We tried their fried rice, fried noodles, Vietnamese pancake which were all... For the life of me, I don’t know why this restaurant received so many high marks. I ordered Vietnamese fried spring rolls, but they came out burned. I also ordered seafood fried noodles, but I found it a little too greasy and they weren’t very generous with the seafood either, which didn’t even taste fresh (listen chef: you are using... More

Went to this restaurant as it had good reviews, and, sorry to say, was a little disappointed. Food was edible, average at best. Noodles were tasteless, ginger tea was pretty weak and tasted of warm water. There are better Vietnamese restaurants along this street. Good price, and nice view onto the street for people watching (as most of the restaurants... More

Was having my dinner there with my wife last night, there was around five tables with customers.. When i just sat down, I heard some customers next table telling the staff that the food are good, but the waiting time is terrible.. I was thinking to myself;" well, good food worth waiting ya..??" ^^" You know what?? I waited almost... More

This restaurant is a diamond in the rough.. The whole street is littered with cheap tacky restaurants so wasn't expecting much. We decided to get the beef in lime as an entree which was very good. We both ordered hotpots (listed on the menu to take 20-30minutes) which were well worth the wait. All in all really enjoyed it. The... More

We choose Pao because close to our hotel and after hours around Ho Chi Mihn it was a great deal. The caramel pork and salads are good and the ginger tea as well. The service is nice, indeed very nice compared to other cafè we have tried close by. You can also find interesting tours, socially committed.

We have eaten three times in this restaurant, which is in the heart of the backpackers area (Bui Vien). Pao Cafe has some comfortable chairs (and tables) facing the street - definitely the best place to be seated. There doesn't seem to be any really good restaurant in the Pham Ngu Lao area, although it's a fun place to eat... More

No Yelp in Vietnam so hit up tripadvisor and ended up here. After getting homemade fat litle thumbs-like spring rolls in Hanoi, these were more like the packaged ones in Viet places back at home. Also had the Pho, again, nothing special. Service was fine. Prices were more than I was paying in Hanoi, 22k for a beer, 50k for... More
