This restaurant is overflowing with history and hospitality. The delicious food and cozy environment is a reflection of the owners' warmth and care for their guests. We enjoyed the Russian soup, cold appetizer plate, beef stroganoff, and tatar ashi paired with a bottle of white wine. Enjoy your night in one of the most lovely districts in Istanbul with good... The atmosphere is very warm and welcoming. We ordered a lot of cold starters and a Bilincik, which was a Russian crepe. The starters were very good. I ordered an Ostri which is a veal goulash. Excellent and warming dish, just needed some salt. Someone else ordered a Cakapuli, the lamb stew. The lamb was tender but the plum sauce... More

Traditional Georgian food served by the most wonderful hosts. We loved sharing the intimacy of the table perched in the bay window and chatting to the charismatic owner... what a place!

We visited here a few weeks ago, the owner and his family are very very nice. We loved the food and the atmosphere. The location is great too, we fully recommend here.

If you're lucky to (find) visit this architectural town house, ring the doorbell and wait until the owner comes down to welcome you in six or seven languages he speaks fluently.. More exciting than the food & wine is the establishment and the 'young' elderly couple who are prominent town planners (Istanbul) with unequalled knowledge of local architecture and history.... This restaurant is in a historic Ottoman prison, charmingly renovated by the architect owners, who also serve you and, if you're lucky, serenade you with cabaret-style tunes for piano and voice. As a fancier of Georgian cuisine, I'd say the food is good but not amazing. Desserts are very good. Go for the atmosphere - like the home of your... More

A little diffiicult to find. Not that much street advertisement. Rang the bell and was welcomed by the lady of the house. Ordered starter and Beef Stroganof. Very good. Had good and interesting conversations with the owners and a small tour of the building. Can be recommended if you want some quitness but still close to Galata Tower.

When you arrive the Galata Tower turn your back towards the tower and start to walk below in the same named street. The venue is located on your right side and reveal itself with its architecural feature. The building used as civilian prison of Great British Empire in 1904 and as British Military Police Office between 1919-1923. It has been... More

Atmospheric restaurant in street close to Galata Tower. Interesting menu with choice of Russian and Georgian cuisine. Excellent food. Service and owners delightful. Upstairs rooms are period and tastefully decorated. Would certainly recommend and visit again.

Staying in Beyoglu

Neighbourhood Profile
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.
