I was recommended this place by a friend who lives in Turkey and the least we can say was that we were not disappointed. We were a group of 4 without a reservation and we were given a table on the first floor within minutes. The service was great. They suggested some appetizers for us to share which were good. We then went with the mixed meat plat in order to taste everything and all meats where perfectly cooked. The only down side would be the wine list which wasn’t great in comparison to the food (Yes, Turkey does have good wines). If you are looking for a good place to eat kebab at a fair price without a waiter in front of the restaurant trying to force you inside, this is definitively the place to go.

Based on our experience, you won’t go wrong with the food here: everything we had was really nice. The Adana in particular wasn’t fatty and therefore not oily. The chicken sis was from thighs rather than breast and the lamb chops were cooked expertly. I took off one star as the service was found wanting, especially given they weren’t busy, something I picked up from other diners who had to ask for their bills and walk up to waiters. Price was considering it’s near Taksim square, it’s slightly higher but as with many of the places at the moment, they have increased their prices.

My wife and I found this restaurant by chance on the evening of Thursday 20th February. Despite not having a reservation we were shown to a nice table two floors up. The meze to start of spicy red peppers, tzatsiki and the special salad was very tasty as were the different breads including a thin bread with sprinkled chilli that I particularly enjoyed. I couldn't decide between the lamb shish and the lamb chops so the waiter kindly offered to do half and half. Service was very good. We hope to return to Istanbul one day and would definitely eat here again.

This place is a Ripoff, avoid. The hygiene was poor among the staff (sneezing over tables without covering mouth) and they overcharged us by giving us dishes we didn't order. I saw the sneezing once we had finished otherwise we would have left on the spot. We also overheard that the table next to us got the same treatment regarding their dishes being swapped for more expensive options. Service was typical for a Ripoff place but for the first time tourists it could go unnoticed while the signs are still there. Yet they charge a service fee. We were considering leaving early but we were too tired to look for another place.

I only visited here after seeing it in Mark Wiens blog on YouTube, it was apparent it was a popular restaurant going by all the pictures on the wall. However given I have eaten all over Istanbul this restaurant was over priced and that is a fact. Yes compared to London prices it’s cheaper but if you are well traveled in turkey you would say it’s overrated. It’s nicely decorated inside and the staff are very accommodating, the meat is cooked on the open grill which I will fabulous concept. However we were just underwhelmed by the food, the chicken was a bit fatty and the lamb was extremely fatty. The bread was not very nice especially the bread that comes with the meat. We did end up getting room service back at our hotel as we were not full neither did we Really enjoy the food.

We were in Istanbul for 5 days. We chose this place to have dinner twice. The restaurant is very tastefully designed round a large grill. The extraction of the grill fumes is excellent, almost unbelievable. The food is to die for. They offer a great selection and it would be a shame to visit and not taste the grilled aubergine. I would go back to Istanbul just to eat this dish. All the other dishes we ordered were amazing too. Last but not least, Suleiman; he is so courteous, helpful and pleasant. This restaurant is a must while in Istanbul.

Visited this place based on Mark Wein’s review of this restaurant. The atmosphere was great and so were the waiters. We ordered : + Escander Kebab + Lamb Chops + Lamb Liver + Roasted Aborigine The food was great and was served with freshly baked bread and simple salad of onions and parsley. It is great to try while in Istanbul although we found the kebab to be very rich. Overall, great experience and great food but a bit PRICEY

Great food, great service. We had lamb chops and chicken wings which I thought were delicious. I'm only giving 4 stars because my partner wasn't as impressed as I was. I think he was more mesmerized by the food that was displayed in the windows of Istiklal Street, which I couldn't bring myself to eat. I however would definitely recommend this place ... portions are a little small though, especially after a full day of touring.

We had dinner at the restaurant and although it was quite busy, we didn’t have to wait to find a table. We ordered ribs and liver and it was served with salad and bread. The ribs were extremely delicious! However, the restaurant charged us for the food we ordered along with a service charge and table charges were 10 Lira per person.

Me and my friends visited this restaurant and were very excited as we had travelled from the UK and heard a lot of good things about the food so visited on 5/3/2022. On arrival everything seemed fine they were very busy. We were being stared at by most as we were only coloured people in the place. 1st waiter took our order and seemed ok. Once our food arrived the waiter changed and throughout the whole meal he was breathing down our neck and rushing us as if he wanted to get us out asap. Drink glasses and bottled were being taken and cleared off the table when we hadn't even finished them. When It came to settling the bill he was again breathing down our necks and we asked him to give us space to read the bill and take out our money he was extremely rude and his mannerism towards us could only be taken as him being racist. Once we called him to take the bill he snatched the bill and walked off. My friends were really angry as this spoilt the whole experience as food was on point but honestly there are many nice places to eat in Istanbul. AVOID this place if your coloured. Worst way to be treated when you are actually paying for your food.

Snagged a table here without booking. Didn’t get a great table which was fair enough as a walk in but we really enjoyed our meal here. It was busy and buzzy and everyone looked like they were having a great time. If I go back, I’d try to score one of the seats by the grill. Having read reviews, I was a little apprehensive about service but our server was lovely - really attentive to our son making sure he would be able to cope with the spice levels and recommending dishes to balance out our meal. We had flatbreads, chicken and lamb shish kebabs, aubergine dip, humus, tzatziki, and 2 salads. The warm breads and dips were so delicious that we were 3/4 full before the kebabs even arrived. Of the kebabs, we preferred the lamb to the chicken. We had a happy time assembling our meats, salads and breads together, all washed down by raki and beer. Next time I think I’d try the lamb chops. We left full and happy. A good solid choice.

The food, service, and ambiance were fabulous. We loved all our meals, especially the lamb skewer and the stuffed (lamb) roasted eggplant. I wasn't sure which of the 2 restaurants they own was the one we went to so check out the other one for a full review.

This restaurant is just the best spot to taste lamb chops, kebab and tavuk shish. But do not think twice before ordering lamb chops. Me and my friends have sat in the second floor. Ambiance makes you feel right as in turkish series traditional restaurants. The waitors are helpful and nice. Don't miss it when you are in istanbul.

Istanbul's best fireside (Ocakbaşı) restaurant @zubeyir_ocakbasi. Although the main branch is in Taksim, we cannot find the comfort of the Ataşehir branch anywhere else. They know so well how much and how to cook every kind of meat and even if you can enjoy your meal without appetizers. However, I recommend you to try Roasted Eggplant, Roasted Onion and Garlic, and Gavurdagi Salad first. Tarak, Adana Kebab and Lamb Shish are perfect meat plates. The reason why we deducted 1 point is the attitude of some service personnel and some of the price scale. However, so far, they have never made me say "it is not worth" anything I have paid for the service I have received in terms of taste.

This restaurant is high on my list of "Must Eat" so it's fitting that its where we decided to have our first dinner in Istanbul. It's about 5-10 minutes walk from Taksim Square and its off the very very and touristy Istiklal Street. The restaurant was busy with many locals dining in so its a great sign. We didn't have reservation but we were seated right away. Our server was a wonderful man, very friendly and helpful. He was able to answer our questions and suggest a few things to order. Food was amazing, definitely exceeded my expectations. The Mix Grill Kebab was delicious, seasoned well and grilled to perfection. The Chicken Wings was awesome. I was impressed, so much that we came back twice before our holiday ended. Highly Recommended and do not miss this place.

Beyoglu
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.
