Burak and his family make this a welcome local respite in a long day of sightseeing in the area sounded by Blue Mosque (I reckon one of the top three architectural religious bldgs. along with St. Paul's in the Vatican, York Minster in England), Haga Sophia, the Basilica Cistern (appears in many Hollywood blockbusters), and the Grand Bazaar. The three... More

This resutaurant is just behind the Sultanahmet Mosque, and my favorite is spicy Adana Kebab. You can take out any kebabs, and not expensive at all. I could find no female staff, unfortunately, so If you feel embarrassed to eat here, you can just take out. Just say "paket" which means "to take out" in Turkish.

Lunch here twice with my family. Good food at reasonable price. The restaurant is very popular with the tour groups. So may have to wait a while for the food to arrive especially during lunch hour.

After all the cultural Turkish food we could eat, we opted for something completely different. PIZZA. It was delicious. The Italian Pizza is full of flavor and really fantastic. This is a must eat when you want a fire pizza for a change. Will eat here again. Thank you.

I visited this restaurant for dinner on a weekday at 7:30 pm and there were only two more patrons beside me. The decor and ambience is just average at best. I ordered Buhara Special kebabs which is a small platter of different kebabs. The taste was just ok except that I found the lamb kebabs a bit smelly. Before the... More

We ate here almost every night. It is close to our hotel and between the hotel and the square. Staff was very pleasant and put up with our non Turkish speaking selves.

Ate in a few Istanbul restaurants & this is the only one we didn't feel like we had been taken for stupid tourists who didn't know the value of the TLira. The food was nice and enjoyable and service was efficient. We ate there twice and enjoyed it both times.

Our travel agency stopped here for lunch. They served us salads, bread and the main course BBQ chicken with white rice. Service is average and the food as well.

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
