We've stumbled upon Cafe Privato by accident for lunch and were pleasantly surprised with the quality of food and the service. We had ravioli and meatballs and both meals were very tasty. Lentil soup was also great. All the staff speaks very good English and was very helpful. The view of Galata Tower adds the final touch to the experience.... More

I'm not often compelled to write a review, but the amount and quality of food served for the traditional breakfast, combined with the attentive service and beautiful vista from the dining room, made me eager to sing this place's praises. Easily the best breakfast I've had in a long time. Definitely try to get a table in the back to... More

Amazing Turkish breakfast and spectacular service in this family owned restaurant. The village breakfast includes all organic fruits, kaymac and breads. Make sure you make a reservation for weekend brunch. Space is limited and the place gets packed quickly.

Recommended by friends. Went there on a weekday. The clientele was exclusively girls and women, the vibe is indeed a bit feminine. But not the food. Loads of stuff, lots of cheese to kill the waistline! A good value for money, you order the breakfast and can easily skip the lunch! Friendly and no-thrill service. Relaxing...

It is a ritual! First, the server will lay out a vast array of homemade marmalade, cheese, olives, tomatoes, marinated fruits, honey, kaimaki, tahini... then there is warm bread, grilled cheese, gozleme, eggs and sausage... everything is so fresh and delicious, it is so satisfying! The atmosphere is nice and fresh.

We kept going back to Cafe Privato despite numerous choices in the area, because the food was so good and the service was so hospitable! The staff are friendly and helpful and can speak good English, and will do everything to make you feel at home in this cosy little spot. The Turkish breakfast here is amazing and will set... More

I have been here at least 3 times and have brought different members of the family each time who have absolutely love this little gem for its quirky interior, quiet atmosphere, super friendly service and the most amazing and plentiful breakfast. I really can't imagine anyone being disappointed! It really is the perfect place for a relaxed breakfast/brunch and somewhere... More

It's four years since I last had breakfast here and I'm delighted that it's lost none of its charm, style and welcome. Friendly, engaged staff who made me feel as welcome as they did four years ago. Comfortable chairs, great menu and walls covered in plaudits from previous customers. And of course the breakfast. The picture says all that need... More

Staying in Beyoglu

Neighbourhood Profile
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.
