This style of breakfast is apparently from the Kurdish city of Van (according to the Monocle guide), and apart from a ridiculously steep trek up the road because the inner city was blocked off on Labour Day, this restaurant was an excellent breakfast experience. We opted for the Serpme Van Kahvaltisi, which requires a minimum of two persons, but boy... More

Our 2nd time here and this place never disappoints. Almost everyone has their supreme breakfast (even at 3 pm). The variety is immense and apart from boiled eggs all of it is vegetarian. After loads of kebabs on a Turkish holiday, this is a relief. The endless breads and cups of tea with the spread make this a great value.... More

We did a Culinary walking tour for the day. We stopped here for breakfast. Now I can't remember what we had but do remember that we ate huge amounts and everything was very tasty. I have been elsewhere but certainly not as tasty.

Was able to treat myself amongst the many kebabs that I could only afford with a nice lunch in a wonderful neighborhood of Istanbul. The cuisine is unlike anything you may have ever had and if you find yourself hungry and in the area you should stop by this wonderful restaurant.

The best organic breakfast I ever had - definitely the best in Turkey. The oven hot bread was the best ad-on. There was big variety of items and everything was at its best

Staying in Beyoglu

Neighbourhood Profile
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.
