Start with kebab washed down with frothy tankards of chilled Ayran. But save room for hot off the grill pan sticky juicy Kunafe - your dentist and heart surgeon will thank you!

Durum Bufe is one of my favorite restaurants in Istanbul situated nearby the Egyptian Bazaar. This establishment serves mouthwatering and scrumptious grilled meats barbecued on char coal. This restaurant is so intimate you may find a seat around the grill. Smoky? Maybe so, but what a delight to watch the chef barbecue those luscious meats with such enthusiasm if not... More

It was a bit intimidating to walk in because everyone in the restaurant was seemingly Turkish. We ended up sharing the table with a nice Turkish couple. The menu, written on the wall, was pretty straightforward. It may be good to brush up on basic dishes before you go (Adana, Kanat), but the waiter told us what kind of meats... More

This is one of the best foods we ate while in Turkey at this price. They BBQ the food right in front of you and the spices are very traditional and incredible. If you're in the spice bazaar area I highly recommend you eat here.

We came across this place by accident while shopping in the market. It looked very simple, with just a handful of kebab offerings, so we sat down for a quick snack. It ended up being one of the best meals we had all trip! The chicken skewer was grilled fresh right in front of us and was incredibly tasty. The... More

We came across this small restaurant while looking for the spice bazaar after a visit to the magnificent Rustem Pasha Mosque ... we were hungry and found many eateries in the area but we settled for this one because the smell of barbecue was irresistible ... The " good size meal" was amazing ... tasty meat ... tasty salad and... More

Staying in Grand Bazaar

Neighbourhood Profile
Grand Bazaar
Tourists, hawkers, and locals come together at the Grand Bazaar to comb its labyrinthine passageways in search of a bargain – be it a pair of brand name jeans, a handcrafted silk rug, or a perfectly brewed cup of tea. Outside the vast bazaar, worn, narrow streets wind their way down from its lofty perch to the southern shore of the Golden Horn, where the evocatively aromatic Spice Bazaar beckons alongside the elegant New Mosque (opened in 1665). Nearby, the famed Galata Bridge offers pedestrian access to urban delights across the river in Istanbul’s more residential and contemporary neighbourhoods, while the must-see sights of Sultanahmet are but a leisurely stroll away.
