Briefly rude and disrespectful staff and very simple menu. Try another one. It was my first time that I visited this restaurant with my friends. I have been hearing about their name since they are a bit popular as being a vegeterian restaurant in that area. But there are others too. There is only one positive thing about the restaurant:... We were hoping to find some good vegetarian and vegan food. However, the food was cold, unseasoned, expensive, and the staff was rude. The worst evening we had in Istanbul.

Strongly reccomend! I know Zencefil since its beginning times. They have great food, friendly personnel; clean, plainly and nicely decorated, calm and peaceful place. Read or write or chat while enjoying your meal!

If you are desperate for a veggie restaurant, then this is one of the best options in town. The food is pretty tasty, if a little over priced, but don't expect miracles.

Relaxing and unhurried dinner with a promising menu and well prepared food. Quality was only let down by the texture of the pies being spoilt by being microwaved. In Istanbul terms it's a bit pricey for what you get, but the venue is great and the service was well-judged. Drinks and desserts both worth having but the latter were too... More

We stumbled on this place not realizing it was a vegetarian restaurant and were so glad we went in! Lovely tasty lunch, good portions. Pretty good value. Very nice decor and ambiance. I had a kinda warm smoked bulgar salad which was delicious and my partner a quiche which he also enjoyed. Good central location. Would return in a flash.... More

Very good vegetarian food in a very cosy atmosphere. Nice people, and a very different approach to food than elsewhere in Istanbul. Worth making a detour.

Lovely restaurant with outdoor seating close to Taksim. They clearly marked what is veggie and what is vegan and the food is outstanding!

I was happy to find a modern, tasteful vegetarian restaurant in Istanbul. Very good, friendly and professional service. Affordable prices and the two possible portions makes it ideal for lunch or snack as well. Fresh and tasteful food, partially based on the traditional Turkish kitchen. Great but simple interior.

What a find - I researched Zencefil before going out to Istanbul and after an afternoon sightseeing we were famished when we went finally found it. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Boards had all the specials on, making it easy to choose what we wanted to eat. A great relaxed atmosphere and loved the glass open area. We... More

Staying in Beyoglu

Neighbourhood Profile
Beyoglu
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.
