A trip to Istanbul would be incomplete without a visit to Adem Baba, the best fish restaurant on the European side of the Bosphorus. Tucked away from the main drag, it may be tricky to find, but once you go there once, you will remember the way, because it is remarkable. It is a humble place (wooden table and chairs,... More

Temple of fried fish. Punto. No mezes, no alchool and very limited desserts. Whatever they had was great: bonito, fried mussels, sardines, anchovies The bill $ 15 x person

Always fresh ingredients... Be aware it is local place. No fancy decoration. Not a lot of choices like classical turkish fish restaurants simple menu, 6-7... More

I recommend for only fresh sea foods. There is no reservation and first come first serve rule is valid. There are same chairs to wait your... More

Fresh fish made on the spot for take away or home delivery. A favourite for locals for fresh local fish and seafood.

Not much to choose from but then again they only serve the very fresh catch of the day. No alkohol either. Great sides too, sallad and bread and fantastic fried calamari for starters. Busy with locals.

I am a local and partner of an event planning company. This is a gem that you can go for lunch or an early dinner when visiting Ortaköy-Bebek Bosphorous district. A simple place where you can find the freshest fish in Istanbul. It is decorated with fisherman, shells and the service is very fast and all staff is friendly. As... More

Staying in Besiktas

Neighbourhood Profile
In Besiktas, skyscrapers compete with palaces for space in an upscale vista replete with hilly green parkland filling in the margins. Step into this rather wealthy neighbourhood and discover a rich mix of opportunities to shop, dine, and be entertained. For folks in search of urban buzz, not to mention a constant reminder of just how important Istanbul’s waterways are to its rich history, there's the frenetic Besiktas ferry terminal or the city’s most vibrant fish market to explore. For a timeout of metropolitan proportions, head to the bucolic Yildiz Park or the chic Bosphorus-side fishing village of Ortakoy. Attractions such as the grandiose Dolmabahce Palace and a bevy of other stately residences await admiration. To be sure, this large and not overly touristy swath of Istanbul yields plenty of pleasure for all.
