As a tourist from suburban America, Mahane Yehuda is an amazing departure from our normal world of big box supermarkets. To the folks here, it's just a normal part of daily life. The sights, sounds and smells are amazing. The food is amazing. Fresh baked bread, straight from the oven, and without the preservatives and other junk we have in... More

We did not know what to expect when we walked into Machneyuda. The music was blasting and the crowd was vibrant. Not a place for quiet conversation but if you want to revel in new Jerusalem, this is the place. The food was fantastic. We had the tasting menu and every item was delicious. The service was great and helpful.... More

We sat for a delicious meal in the restaurant - it was certainly not cheap - about $ 60 per person but the flavors were varied and delicious. The music was joyous throughout the meal - so it was not a place for a quiet and romantic meal, but it was certainly a joyful and delicious meal.

This is an eye opening experience for the American suburbanites used to sedate supermarkets! I love it! Clearly all locals regard it as THE place to get their eggplant, fish, fresh (still warm!) rolls and breads, and also stop for a coffee or tea with a friend. Plus some stalls have exotic tea blends, sold by the kilo, or spices... More

It is thee most colorful and diverse market. Walk along the allys grasp the smells. Seat in one place to grab something to eat and drink, and enjoy wonderful minimum of 2 hours.

Three of us ate a delicious dinner at Machneyuda in March, 2017. We had high expectations for the food and dancing. The food was great, and we liked our server. There was no dancing downstairs while we were there. There was a problem: we had made the reservation for a table 2 weeks ahead on the link on their website.... More

I could have spent days on end here! All sorts of food stalls (fish, meat, cheese, halvah, baklava, spices, fruit, vegetables, bread, candy, clothing, jewelry, etc), restaurants, pubs, nightlife (pubs, cafes, etc), etc. I used the Yalla Basta shuk bites card for tasting, which worked out nicely.

So much fun to walk through, and lots of yummy foods. If you love spices, olives, breads, cakes, halavah, this is the place to visit. Try to avoid Friday, people by the hundreds shopping for Shabbat. Great place to observe people shopping. Love going there. Have fun and eat well.

On my third trip to Jerusalem I finally made it here and for a minute there was sure I died and went to food heaven. Everything was basically perfect, and surprising, and delightful. Flavor combos I had never considered, garnishes that deserved their own spotlight, and staff that was friendly and fun. The bill was less than expected at the... More

As other reviewers have said, very lively (you could say, noisy), and some interesting food choices. By and large We found the food suffered from "one ingredient too many", but it was still very good, and the service friendly and attentive.
