What a fantastic find. Easily one of our favorite restaurants in all of Jordan. Kawon has an insta-worthy bookshop and incredible homemade vegan food. The garden seating is beautiful and well laid out and you could easily find yourself passing hours there. Another local restaurant...gets a bit more attention for most visitors, but if you can only eat at one place in Madaba, it should be Kawon.More

We visited twice. Once during the day when it was busy but friendly locals made room for us and once not long before closing time. We had three different types of cake and Arabic coffee and felt as if we were at home. Warm welcomes...and a very special atmosphere. I wish this cafe was in my hometown so I could visit more often.More

We will never forget this very special spot in our trip around Jordan. Here we shared tea, music and experiences, and the food was delicious!

Very beautiful bookshop with a lot of amazing books and stuff to buy. Also the cuisine is delicious with their vegetarian dishes. I strongly recommend this place!!!

Really nice and lovely location and a good diversion from the usual restaurants. You can order a plate outside and (in wintertime J) eat it in the warm and cosy cafe downstairs.

After having little luck with good vegan food in Jordan this place was amazing. Emilia who works here was amazing and really spoiled us with some outstanding food. We left absolutely stuffed and compared to what we have paid elsewhere in Jordan, really good value....In fact if there wasn’t anything else to see in Madaba (and there is) it would be worth coming just for this food. PS they even have soy milk for coffee and hot chocolate which we haven’t seen anywhere else in Jordan.More

The most charming bookstore we've seen! Nice fairy tale behind it. Everybody were really friendly, speaking perfect english, our kids (3,6) loved it, we even bought some children books. We loved it as it was a quiet place with a big garden, so you can...enjoy your drink and don't worry about children playing around, they also have coffe shop, fresh juices, wonderful design... And we really recommend food there! We had dinner - it was delicious, fresh, colorful, with excellent humus and (incredibly) very cheap! Hope we can returned one day...More

On my trip to Jordan I visited the bookshop in Madaba, and what a wonderful place it is. Not only is it a nice break from the usual tourist attraction, it is a great initiative, trying to promote reading in Jordan (which is not that...easy). It is nice to see how many different type of people who come to study, and just relax. As a tourist you can spend hours in the garden drinking coffee, tea or juice, tasting treats baked by local women. Maybe read a book you just bought, or play ping pong, or simply just enjoy the view. In the bookshop they even have bookd in all kinds of language. As a Dane myself I was surprised to find books in Danish. I would recommend everyone to take a break from archeological sites, and experience this great initiative, when visiting Madaba.More
