UPDATE: MONKS in Ashrafiyeh has unfortunately closed down (it seems for good) Although, you can still catch their Thai menu at Tsunami...I recommend going to the Backyard branch. It's not as good as used to be, but it's still pretty good Thai for Beirut. Pad Thai is pretty good Lemon Chicken as well

The green curry chicken is a must try! It is very tasty and the spices and coconut make it special! The seating area can be better however, this is compensated with the good food.

I have eaten in Monks many many times, almost once per month, since several years. Most patrons order sushi, while they should go for the Thai instead. I admit one thing: the Pad Thai is horrible. I have pointed that out many times before. Their Mussaman Curry is downright awesome, the green curry is delicious, and the chicken cashew nuts... More

We loved Tsunami before it moved in with Monks. We went to Monks on Friday night and decided to get a mix of sushi and Thai food. Big mistake. While the sushi chefs are still doing very good sushi and sashimi the same certainly can't be said for their Thai counterparts. Like previous reviewers the sushi came out a long... More

I dined here recently for the first time. Two in my group ordered sushi while I ordered Thai food. The sushi came in a slow but tolerable amount of time, but no Thai food. We asked for it, and after another 10 minutes or so were told that it had been forgotten, and the waitress asked if I still wanted... More

Finally a Thai place in Beirut. it's awesome, just a bit overpriced. The green curry and the spicy fish we got were finger licking good.

This was my second visit following a bad experience 2 years ago. Back then, we waited for ever to get our ordered food and the manager was apologetic to the extent that I refrained from writing what I thought. We came back last night, with the same group and had the same bad experience while on top getting a less... More

There are not many Asian restaurants in Beirut - but this one is definitely a great place to go to. Very tasty food, reasonable prices (for Beirut standards). A small minus: Rice plates are charged extra.

I went there with my friends for the first time. They have very good sushi at very good prices. The service was good, not too long but relatively good.
