Don not forget to use your foreign credit card, 22% tax not included in price of meal, we had Brochette of meat, ham, chicken and meat, we also had one side dish of baked sweet potato, it was too much so we brought some home for sandwich meat. Breakfast , lunch or supper, not cheap but not expensive or fine... More

Went here on a recommendation from our hotel and because we were told it was a great parilla. We ordered a rib-eye steak and a baked potato with salad. The steak looked great but was too well cooked and for a rib-eye was amazingly dry and lacking in taste. The baked potato had been heated and had that slightly metallic... More

They don't cover cubierto and the servers are friendly. It's packed in this place but we got a seat quickly. We ordered a bottle of wine and the table service was not proper, the server just poured the wine into our glasses but it was quite busy to be fair. Our food took an hour which I found to be... We started our New Year's Eve at El Tonel, which we were glad offered their regular menu and prices for the night. On arrival, we found the check-in process a little confusing, as the host was not immediately evident and once identified, did not take our name or provide a number, so it was unclear whether the sequencing of everyone's... The service was good. Ordered my steak medium rare and it came dry. Not much flavor. The prices are cheaper for punta del este but better food can be found in the area

Very good food, reasonable prices, good service. The Omelet was tasting really nice, the fish came as a good portion and was fresh and tasty and the piece of meat was big and well prepared.

The pictoral menu was helpful in making selections. We had a very friendly and helpful waiter and ended up with a delicious meal fresh off the grill.

We were a bit disappointed by El Tonel. While the chorizo and mixed salad were excellent, the Mussels Provençal were overcooked, the ojo de bife had a strange aftertaste and the ensalada russa didn't have a lot of flavor. The service was prompt and friendly.

This is a restaurant in a very good location near the main avenues and streets, service is good, we recommend chivitos and also the seafood. Good beer too.

My wife and I both ordered the sirloin steak - medium rare - and it was presented perfectly. The expectation was that the sirloin might be a little tough. That thought was dispelled on the first bite. Our waiter suggested a Uruguayan wine - H. Stagnari Tannat - which was excellent. We arrived early, at least by Uruguayan standards, and... More
