Very impressed with the food and the service. I will return. The sushi was good. I also have the prawn and pasta dish which was outstanding.

This restaurant is relatively atypical for Punta del Este. The venue is a Punta del Este brick family home converted to a restaurant, plus an added tent (which is the cozier area to sit in as long as it’s not cold.) The house is tucked...in a dark residential street behind the Punta del Este shopping, if you don’t know the area a GPS is definitely a plus. The menu is quite attractive, an assortment of sushi plus a lot of fusion type dishes, many of Peruvian inspiration (ceviche etc.) A notable item on the menu is octopus which is not that common to see. On this visit we stuck to the sushi menu so we can’t report on the other dishes. We ordered 5 salmon sashimi pieces, a tuna tataki, a New York roll (sans cream cheese), 4 shrimp nigiris, and a couple different vegetarian rolls. The mileage was uneven. The salmon sashimi was great, luscious pieces of great salmon. The tuna tataki had a tasty Nikkei sauce with onions, though the tuna was a bit on the dry and stringy side (fairly common in these latitudes, I’ve been told by folks in the know it has to do with the cold treatment of the fish from ocean to the restaurant.) The New York roll had the same good salmon but the rice was subpar, it was way too sugary and soft so the small grains stuck together (think the feel of bread dough made with rice.) The shrimp nigiris were sad affairs, small shrimp tied to some of the same soggy rice with seaweed, they were so curly they refused to stay put. The vegetarian rolls were ok but the two types were almost undistinguishable. (The vegetarian selection on the menu was otherwise nonexistent save for some ravioli.) Last but not least the wasabi had a crumby texture and did not pack much punch. The beverage list was nice with beer, a good working selection of wine, and mixed drinks. We had two absolut caipiroskas and they were nicely balanced. For desert we shared a tasty chocolate mousse. The service was competent, two friendly male waiters roamed the tables, though once we had to stand up to chase a waiter to get a desert menu. The price was no bargain, it ended up adding up to u$s 110 for 2 people pre-tip (though you can bring that down to u$s 90 if you use a foreign credit card avoiding the VAT.) BOTTOM LINE: While we liked the feel of the place and the menu sure had some tempting dishes, the ones we had this time were not as uniformly compelling as we hoped.More

This is an excellent find in Punta del Este. We enjoyed a 24 item salmon plate. Though it can be just a bit cold in summer outside on the patio, the restaurant provides blankets. It is a great touch and different than the usual heat...lamp approach. Our waiter worked with our limited Spanish and we enjoyed an outstanding "late" night Sushi dinner in the high season.More

My friend had been feeding me during my visit large quantities of beef from Uruguay, which was very good, but I was in need of fish. I ordered the sushi combination plate, which was plentiful and good, but I agree with another reviewer that there...was too much cream cheese. A little bit of that in sushi to me goes a long way. Otherwise, my meal was fine and I liked being away from the concrete jungle that predominates this city.More

This place is fabulous! They have various forms of excellent sushi, and they can accommodate diners who don’t eat sushi. The food and service is outstanding, very friendly and we would return gladly. Hubby and son had the 30-piece sushi and I had the recommended...Peruvian chicken dish—so good. They tell you it’s spicy; but, we’re from Texas and it was pretty mild for us. Great wine pours too!More

Lovely restaurant, close to Punta Shopping as we walked there in 5 minutes but no sidewalks. Regret not ordering something other than sushi, other tables had interesting orders. The sushi was average and all had cream cheese in them which we don’t prefer. Also, if...you order sushi and sashimi, you have to pick with additional salmon to get actual pieces of sashimi. We didn’t figure that out until too late. Place was full by 11pm, we arrived at 10pm and customers were sparse.More

I lived 4 years in Peru and became a big fan of Peruvian - Japanese cuisine. Late is enough to remind you those flavors but still far from the standard. Together with the nice ambiance and friendly staff you end up with a good experience...but still not among the best you can haveMore

We were weary of trendy expensive places in Punta but this place truly is a qualitative Peruvian fusion restaurant. Nice setting and actually pretty delicious food (be it the sushis or the ceviche/tiraditos). Obviously it is not cheap but definitely worth it when compared to...the local competition. Very friendly and efficient service.More
