I was a regular at the "old" Renaissance when Chef Brian was there. It was the best restaurant around. Now it is just awful. The food seems like a much lesser quality, the preparation is lackluster and below average and the food was edible at best. The service used to be wonderful and now it too is average. I will... The service is TERRIBLE! My husband and I drove from out of town to eat here. We ended up walking out after 30 minutes, because our waitress couldn't even stop for 5 minutes to take our order. She was to busy helping the other 4 tables and screwing around behind the counter. The restaurant wasn't even busy and they had... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience last night at this remarkable establishment! We didn't know it was a special Valentine's event when we reserved our table, and were so excited to hear a jazz combo playing when we entered the door! The Cafe had a special Valentine menu planned, but we ordered off the menu instead. We were guided through the... More

Wow. Who would have thought a small town (and I do mean small) would have such an outstanding restaurant? The menu is top line and changes often. They have hired a new chef in the last year and I was told the food is just a good as it was before. The restaurant is in an old school. The decor... More

We often eat at cafes in small towns. We stopped early evening on a Saturday in Assaria to try their cafe. We were amazed to be asked if we had reservations, no we didn't but were given a table after the waitress agreed. We enjoyed a remarkable meal in a pleasant and unique atmosphere. We chose the rib-eye and the... More

I had read about this restaurant, and it didn't disappoint. The seating area is a wonderfully renovated elevated area surrounding an old gymnasium. The feel of the place is absolutely unique, and you owe yourself a trip for that right there. The food was excellent, as I had expected. The little Earl Gray Lemon Sorbet served between the salads and... More

We come here for special events but, with these low prices, you could come here every week. The pan seared tuna is amazing and at 27$ very inexpensive. The pasta dishes are all excellent, too. Sales are all fresh and they raise many of their own spices on site. Service is fine, too....this is not a fast food joint after... More

Made reservations for a Saturday night and arrived at the designated time, we were seated right away. That was probably the best part of the experience. The service was slow, I wouldn't say they were overly busy. I had one of the pasta selections which I thought was good but certainly not overwhelmingly so which it should have been at... More

Renaissance Café, Assaria, KS Kansas can surprise you! In the tiny town of Assaria, Kansas, on Old 81/I-135 between Lindsborg and Salina, one can find the Renaissance Café. The café is attached to one side of a school gymnasium, the school likely a victim of school unification. One approaches the door of the café the first time with pessimism only... More

We had not eaten there for a while but it has always been good. You can sign up for for their monthly newsletter that tells about their specials. The regular menu has lots of choices, too. Only open on the weekends so be sure to make reservations. Celebrated our anniversary there recently and our meals were excellent. Our waitress was... More
