The place is popular and the shop is not big. Prepare for queuing in peak hours. The spicy seafood congee is awesome. There are two spicy levels: normal and super. Normal spicy level I think is already good, and people dun eat spicy food usually may find it too spicy. The ginseng chicken congee was not as good as the... More

The congee is tasty and big enough for two people. I ate the congee every time I went to Korea. I love the crab congee very much!! The congee is good for breakfast or lunch. I think you should have a try when you go there! You can go with friends and other different taste and share to try for... More

Worst customer service. Main waitress told me to find a seat myself and ignored me for 10mins without bringing out menu (i even googled how to order at bonjuk during this time thinking theres a self service ordering system). Then I had to walk up to counter and ask for the menu. Also took them sometime to notice that I... More

As an Asian, porridge is a staple in our diet. So stumbling on this place was a bonus. Located on the second floor in the heart of myeondong, the restaurant is not difficult to find. There is usually some waiting (and not much waiting space) esp if you come for breakfast which porridge normally is eaten. But it's not a... More

Every order is prepared upon order so it's fresh although it will take approximately 20-30mins. The ingredients are fresh daily so it takes extremely delicious. My favourite place that I must visit during my trip to Seoul.

Meal was served with small side dishes. I've visited the outlet nearby Skypark Central Hotel more than 5 times. Really missed the old bonjuk outlet where the ajumma staff were friendlier and warmer to customers. I returned in June few weeks ago and were surprised to see the new image of the outlet. Area seems brighter and has expanded now... More

An unforgettable congee experience in Seoul. I had visit the Bonjuk Store in Chungro, and this is the first time I visit Myeongdong Store. We have waited for 15mins and ordered 1 crab meet and one mushroom congee. Taste never change. I miss the congee here, very soft and full of crab meat. You must try it when you visit... More

Daughter was not feeling well, suggested hot congee. Came to Bonjuk, we ordered a ginseng chicken and ginseng abalone congee each. There are vegetables, beef , seafood and chicken selections available. The congee are thick and is very filling. It's come with some kimchi , chili and mushroom accompaniments and salted cold turnip water. It's a small place and congee... More

So glad i pondered on this place... The porridge is well made, doesn't have the usual salt or soya sauce seasoning! Very original. The abalone porridge is a must try but be prepared for queue as I notice the locals and Chinese do frequent them.

Staying in Myeongdong / Namdaemun

Neighbourhood Profile
Myeongdong / Namdaemun
Arguably Seoul’s most famous neighbourhood and undoubtedly one of its most popular, Myeongdong takes shopping and eating to new heights, with hundreds of shops, restaurants, and cafes all stacked on top of one another. The rise in popularity of Korean cosmetics, fashion, and more has made this area a must-see for visitors who come and marvel at Myeongdong’s often frenetic pace and energy. Lotte and Shinsaegae’s massive department stores are also popular draws for both Korean and luxury products. The department stores, just like Myeongdong’s streets, are crowded around the clock. Myeongdong’s many street food carts are also immensely popular for their inexpensive and quirky offerings (French-fry-encrusted corn dogs, anyone?). The neighbourhood’s popularity, as well as its close proximity to other popular sights and neighbourhoods, makes it one of Seoul’s most popular places to stay.
