Although not very authentic, this foreigner friendly Korean BBQ makes you feel welcome, there are always English speaking staff on hand, and the beautiful hostess always has a warm smile and cheery attitude (even though she stands in the main entrance area and has the cold winter air hitting her in her face all evening). Window tables allow for a... More

I like my experience at Maple Tree, although it was packed with tourist. The food was good and the service good. It might not be the most authentic experience, but it is good enough if you are having your first Korean BBQ and dont know where to go.

Great place to become acquainted with Korean food, clean and stylish decor compared to most barbecue restaurants in Seoul. Bilingual staff who are used to foreigners. Nice food, nothing special and slightly overpriced compared to other barbecue restaurants

Great Korean BBQ place in the heart of Itaweon. Delicious food, great service. You can't go wrong. Definitely recommended if you're looking for a nice night out in town.

A cool experience when they grill your meat by your table and then you get a couple of sides with it! Wasn't that impressed with the meat but definetly... More

Going to abroad as a Muslim is always a challenge when it comes to food. Especially South Korea, as they are famous for it's BBQ (mainly pork). My friend wanted to try as she was told they had a good reputation beef quality. So we took the train and stoped at Itaewon Station, take the 2nd exit and go left... More

So after a great meal at original samcheongdong store, we decided we needed another Maple Tree House meal before leaving Seoul. We were visiting the war memorial so head to Itaewon store. It is located at the Hamilton Hotel, but up the elevator 2nd floor and out the door, sort of next door. As there are 2 street levels. Food... More

Staying in Itaewon

Neighbourhood Profile
Neighboring the immense Yongsan American Garrison, Itaewon was once shunned by locals as a seedy, red light district. But within the past few years, Itaewon and its surrounding neighborhoods such as Kyunglidan and Haebangchong have undergone a major revival to quickly become one of Seoul’s hottest areas. Here, trendy international restaurants dot the area alongside hip lounge bars and some of Seoul’s hottest club venues. After dark, Itaewon comes into its own as one of Seoul’s top party scenes. The crowd is a fascinating patchwork of all backgrounds and identities, including a small but thriving Muslim community (centered on Korea’s sole mosque), the LGBT community (with a string of popular bars and clubs), and a wide range of ethnicities and cultures scattered around. Those seeking a quiet respite should head towards the eastern end, in Hannam-dong, which not only has one of Korea’s best art museums, the Leeum Samsung Museum of Art, but plenty of mid-range to upscale restaurants and cafes.
