Just horrible rude staff that tried to coerce you in buying expensive dish, when not even finished tried to take your dishes away with food still there. Rude and loud and tell you to get out, poor education from pathetic yat lok staff that server miniscule amounts of food. Avoid 100%

Famous restaurant recommended by the Michelin List. Hove to line up outdoor for the seat and the road was very narrow, I was glad that it wasn't raining at the time . Taste was good, but a bit over priced, the seat was not very comfortable and have to share table with strangers.

The staff here are rude. We dined in with 3 adults 2 kids and 1 toddler. They didnt let us eat at their restaurant because were just goint to order 4 meals. They said that we should order 6 meals since we are 6 not considering that 1 is toddler (who cannot eat a FULL MEAL) AND 2 KIDS WHO'S ONLY 7 YEARS OLD. While taking our order, the staff tokd us what's their best seller, but while I'm reading the menu , she's veey impatient to wait for our order. She's been asking us what is our order or almist every 3 seconds not letting us to think or browse their menu. My friend who's a Filipino felt discriminated. We saw how the staff's face changed AND HOW SHE LOOKED when our friend told her order. THE STAFF WAS IRRITATED. Just not to spoil our night,we just agreed to take away our ordered food. Then they pointed out that we should wait outside already and pay the food to the girl in black at the door. Then we stepped out; While waiting outside for our takeout food and at the same time looking for our money, It's almost every 3 second that they're asking us if we will pay the bill. They had ask us for 5 times if I counted it right.in less than 30seconds. I will definitely wont come back at this restaurant even though they're famous.

We waited for a table for about 20 minutes, it was worthy. The bbq pork was the best we ever had and we went back for a 2nd time. Highly recommended, must try when visiting Hong Kong.

Long queuento dine in this busy and famous restaurant. They ran out of goose legs, $179 whole or $143 part on rice. The goose breast on rice is $80.

We had come to taste this famous Michelin-rated restaurant. The food is very good, but the welcome leaves a lot to be desired. This restaurant is a real tourist factory, in terms of queue management, arrival at the table and order taking. We're made to understand that we're just walking banknotes. I'm not criticising their success, but I find it hard to understand why they're so keen to make a profit when their restaurant is constantly full. It's on the verge of indecency. I didn't appreciate being forced to eat as quickly as the 2 successive couples in front of us, when we had ordered more than them combined. Not to mention that you have to pay for your napkins 🤣 and add $30 to pay by card. =》 A real incomprehensible racket when their turnover must be gigantic. I only advise to come and eat on the go with enough cash and taste the smallest portion of goose. My advice to the owner: be less greedy and stingy. You earn enough money 🤣

We went to Yat Lok and were seated and when we tried to order dried noodles with goose, the arrogant staff said it wasn’t available when others you could see had it ordered. With our other order of rice and goose and bbq pork was just mediocre like off cuts of meat and just bones and small amounts of rice. It looked like they wanted us to buy their more expensive dish of half goose as that what she pointed at another table who had it. The rude and loud staff were so appalling it was like a nightmare to even dine at this fake establishment and should never be awarded a Michelin at all. It is a Michelin award of rude staff and only wanted to shift the customers out so that new customers can come in. We had not even finished our dishes and they tried to take it away, we had to tell them not to not take it away as it wasn’t finished. My soup was not finished as I wanted to try another dish by holding it down with my hand as it was obvious what the staff rude strategy was to do. They just take it without even asking in the first place. Having read the many other reviews of this fake establishment, it shows that this is not a one off, it has regularly happened many times of years. It shows how the filth of their service is giving customers the bad end of the stick. The place is not as good as it is made out as there are many other Roast Goose places in Hong Kong and tastes way better like Ki’s Roast Goose located in Causeway Bay with much better and calm customer service, with plum sauce on the table which is unusual with other restaurants. Save your money and spare the rudeness of these old generation staff and try other places in HK who offer way better food and service. Don’t even use the toilet, its the old style hole in the ground, not surprised.

We queued before 10am when the restaurant opened its doors. The waiting was not too long. The dining experience and food were bad. Why? We ordered items from the menu: “B5 BBQ pork, chicken leg and noodles in soup $115”. We were given rice, not noodles in soup. We pointed out the wrong order but the staff said as she’s already delivered it, she cannot change it! We also ordered item “C6 Crisp pork & soya sauce chicken in dry noodles $89”. The noodles were half cooked and salty to the extreme. Others who had also ordered noodles left the noodles uneaten due to the high salt content. We also ordered goose leg and rice but the goose was dry and tasteless. We will not eat at Yat Lok again. We will return to eat at Kam’s Roast Goose where the goose is succulent and tasty and their century eggs with ginger are famous for their excellence.

Such a disappointment. Rude service is one thing. Oh boy when I opened my takeaway box of roast goose rice, indeed it felt like leftover, unwanted parts that's dried up and mostly bones. HUGE disappointment. Far from my past experienced. To think that I always recommend them to people going yo HKG. I will stop doing so from now on.

Ignore the 1 star. This is a NEGATIVE ( -100 ) star review. It was our first time dining here and oh boy, we should’ve read the reviews and not just the ones who still recommends this restaurant. To keep it short. We ordered their roast goose with rice and char siu. And upon ordering the staff was very rude and didn’t even took the char siu order. While waiting, the people who we were sat with were searching for their next destination on their phone, the staff rudely wants to take her meal (because she’s on her phone and not eating) but she said she’s still not finished, after that happened, another staff just took their food even if after they told them they are not finished yet. We continued to witness them yelling and being rude to people and forcing them to go fast. Overall there were about 3-4 groups who's obviously disappointed and appalled with the service within the span of 10-15mins. Imagine operating for hours or even months to years and always being rude to customers. When the food arrived it was cold and hard, and reading the reviews ( including a couple of local reviews ) they usually serve foreigners the “ left over “ parts thats 90% bone and 10% meat. In our opinion. Michelin guide people should do an update on this restaurant or better yet as a foreigner* as people tend to ignore the bad service and food because of their title “ michelin guide “ and the misunderstanding that they have 1 michelin star. Guys, remember for you to be awarded, a star restaurant should be good not just with food but the service also. Specially with the cleanliness of the restaurant. A restaurant that pushes customers that fast and has a traffic of a min. Of hundreds to thousands of people with a small space is surely filthy. Overall, JUST DON’T! Guess with their restaurant being on michelin guide and people continuing to ignore all the bad reviews with almost all captions with “ WORST SERVICE “ and still showing up to their door steps made these “ Family/Staffs “ soo arrogant and rude to their customers. PS there were no photos, they get mad at you when you use your phones

Absolutely appalling customer service from staff at Yat Lok Hong Kong Stanley Street who said a dish wasn't available and try to clear your table when you haven't finished. Always rushed to move you out and just rude period in all aspects of customer service. Must avoid at all costs and do not even try. If enough people know about the poor service then at least they should improve. Considering their arrogant attitudes it will take some time

DON’T STEP IN! Terrible arrogant service staff. We waited in line for about 45 minutes when they called us to a table. There were three of us and they asked us to sit in a closet where the third seat faces a door jamb. Not sure how the wait staff expects one person to eat. Carry the plate while spooning food into the mouth?! When I asked the waitress how they expect three large ladies to sit in a closet, she got annoyed that I questioned her and asked us to go to the back of the line again to wait for another table. How absurd is that?! I understand of they tell us to wait but to line up again? The waitress was just being difficult because I had the temerity to question her. To think, during Covid I supported them and now that business is back to normal, they’re being high handed. I needn’t use my hard earned money to be treated so badly. Go to Kam’s roast in Wanchai. Though you wait for at least an hour, the wait staff are pleasant and welcoming.

The lady manager is extremely rude. 4 of us dined there. When 3 of us finished our food, she asked us to leave even while one of us still not finished yet. It is not like we spent a lot of time there. In total, probably less than 30 mins. It is popular because of the michelin star. I think Michelin award should take into consideration service attitude. The roast goose is over rated. Many restaurants in HK provide similar quality roast goose. I will not be there again. Don't waste your time queuing.

We couldn't leave Hong Kong without trying some of the local specialties (besides Dim Sum) like roast goose. This is something you can't easily find in the US. And highly recommended with its Michelin Star is Yat Lok. First, for all the previous reviewers complaining of the service, there is a real misunderstanding or misguided expectations of what you're getting here. This is a different sort of dining experience. Definitely not fine dining but more of a typical Hong Kong-Chinatown hole-in-the-wall-with-great-food sort of experience. Second, the restaurant itself is pretty small – they jam about 50 people in a pretty small space and every seat is taken. So like lots of places in HK, be prepared to sit beside people you don’t know at the same table. But, of course, this is part of the experience in my view. If you are expecting white linen napkins and table cloths with great waiters, then you're in the wrong place. We got there around 6:30 and the line outside was about 30 people. The five of us decided to split into two groups of 2 and 3. We only waited about 20 mins or so because they move people through pretty quickly. Be ready for the ladies taking orders to make sure you order quickly. They serve you quickly and expect you to eat quickly. But the goose is delicious. And it is definitely freshly cooked. We didn't order the char siu or the chicken dishes. But there were plenty who were ordering that as well. So as long as you're okay with what I describe above, you will enjoy the roast goose.

MY LETTER TO THE MICHELIN GUIDE WEBSITE. I am writing this letter to express my extreme disappointment with the terrible experience my friend and I had at your recommended so-called "renowned" establishment, Yat Lok, today. We visited Yat Lok despite the heavy traffic and far distance because of your recommendation, and it turned out to be a complete nightmare. It ruined our plans for the evening and soured my friend’s last night in Hong Kong! To put it bluntly, first, the staff was very rude and unhelpful. Being foreigners who don't speak the local dialect, when we asked for assistance and an explanation of the menu, no one cared to assist us. As a result, we ordered a random dish of duck noodles, which turned out to be not what I wanted since no one explained the menu to us. After eating, both my friend and I felt ill. My friend even had to rush to the toilet before we reached our destination. We both experienced upset stomachs and severe digestive issues. It is beyond infuriating to have our final night in Hong Kong ruined by this. We had expected a memorable and enjoyable culinary experience, but instead, we were subjected to discomfort and misery. Furthermore, considering the lofty reputation of Yat Lok Michelin Star Rated Street Food and the high expectations associated with a Michelin star rating, I find it utterly unacceptable that the food quality fell so far below our anticipated standard. Moreover, the misleading pictures of the dishes on your website is an intentional act of deception that can only disappoint and anger unsuspecting customers. I sincerely hope that you take my grievances seriously and address the issues raised immediately. I expect a prompt response to this letter, along with a satisfactory resolution to our concerns. It is imperative that you update the images on the Michelin Guide website to accurately reflect the reality of how the food is served. This is necessary to prevent future customers from experiencing the disappointment and deception that my friend and I endured. Rest assured, I will not hesitate to share my appalling experience with others, both through word of mouth and online platforms, in order to raise awareness and prevent others from enduring a similar ordeal. I eagerly await your urgent response.

Central
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.
