My friend recommend this restaurant to us and he arrange the booking. But there was some miss communication so I was there 30 mins late. The lady at the reception was so nice, she arrange table for us even though the restaurant was very full that night. The foods are so nice. We tried fish congee, lotus root and bamboo... More

Spent our 40th anniversary with family at Sang Kee. Cannot fault the service or the food. Ordered some rare and authentic dishes in advance. They made us feel so welcome and at ease. The waiters were friendly and knowledgeable. One even listened to my husband's speech and mentioned how moved he was by it which absolutely made our day.

Last night I'd dinner at Sang Kee with a group of friends. The dishes, though in relatively small portions, were decent enough. My all-time favourite, deep fried squid with salt and pepper, remained delicious as ever. I do know Sang Kee never means to be a place for a quiet dinner. It's always noisy inside and the service can be... More

We showed up at 22.30, everywhere it says it closes at 23h. We were rudely refused by the lady at the counter saying the the last order accepted is at 22.15 and the chef was gone (!) and kitchen closed: are you kidding me?!? I was speechless, never seen this before anywhere, it's absolutely ridiculous. What if I order at... More

This is an old restaurant, quite typical of Hong Kong Chinese restaurants In the 80s. No decor. Loud and noisy. Friendly waiters who probably have been there for more than 10 years. Food is not fancy but most importantly good quality and good value for money. Came with half a dozen friends of almost 40 years. Different people arrived at... More

Excellent delicious food, prompt service. A bit cramp as a restaurant but just be thankful you get a seat! The famous salt-baked chicken is indeed worthy of its fame. But everything else was really good. Danger: Prone to over-eating.

We were very disappointed with this restaurant. The dishes we ordered were pleasant but the portions were tiny. Three dishes were not enough for three people. The service was very poor. Our waiter was abrupt to the point of rudeness and clearly thought that shouting would make up for cross language difficulties. The dishes arrived at separate times and we... More

We walked past this restaurant and only found it by referring to the street number. There are no overt signs and the entrance looks like the entry to an apartment building. The only clue is a small notice next to the lift which you take to the first floor. The staff were very helpful and friendly, recommending dishes and quantities.... More

Occupying two floors of a building, I found the seafood to be well cooked, the meal well served, and the cheapest corkage HKD 50 in town for the moment. They are upfront with the pricing of seafood items they show you before they cook.

Went there with a local colleague. He told me that this restaurant is well known for local style seafood. It did not disappoint. We had several dishes of clams, langoustines, fish of every type. It was a memorable experience. Don't let the street view fool you. The building it's located in is somewhat run down. When we walked up the... More

Staying in Wan Chai / Causeway Bay

Neighbourhood Profile
Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centres of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.
