Never-let-you-down egg rolls, let the photo speaks. I personally prefer original flavour without adding any ingredients inside it. Though it was pretty smoky to sit along the bar, it appears like you re in shinya shokudo series manga.

before i went i thought its just another unauthentic Japanese restaurant in hong kong; turns out they have a nice sake collection, very delicious egg rolls and good variety of japanese dishes; the price is fair as well.

This is the best Japanese restaurant in Hong Kong with fair charges and decent environment. The sushi plate is a must try.

I went there with my family in July 2016. We ordered chicken grill, beef grill, ox-tongue grill and roast chicken wings. All grilled food were yummy and juicy. We also ordered calms cooked with Sake, it was also delicious. The environment there was a bit noisy because it was always full. Furthermore, the distance between tables was quite close, I... More

Party of 5 turned up at 1.30 on a sunday to be greeted with "we close at 2.30." Not a great start. Food is good but they were rushing to get it out and then get us out. Dumpling were nice, pumpkin was awesome, soba is soba, salmon sashimi was very good. Tuna was not good at all. Close to... More

The food may be good and the ambience great.....but the service is not so good reflected in the grudging way the waitress points me to my reserved table and the waiter bringing me chopsticks! They just don't look too happy at work or they just treat customers well or not as and when they like it which is not professional.

Surprise Gem in busy causeway bay area, located at a prime location, better book in advance as most of the time full especially Thursday - Sunday. Ambience was like traditional Japanese Izakaya (居酒屋) and everything was wooden. The food was the highlight, from the yakitori to sashimi, but the best was the omelette. There is a great variety of omelette... More

Had dinner here twice. Decent Jap offering at average restaurant prices. Set up was cosy and very welcoming for a non local. Enjoyed the roasted meat skewers. Sashimi was good quality too!

Staying in Wan Chai / Causeway Bay

Neighbourhood Profile
Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centres of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.
