I ate at El Ancla twice during my stay in Santiago. The first time I had ceviche. It was very good but not exceptional. The second time I had a mind-blowingly delicious stew of octopus, potato, onion, fish, garlic, and hot pepper. The super friendly owner (who also happens to speak very good English) was the one who recommended this... More

We four had an obnoxious waiter. We waited almost an hour for our food to arrive. Of course it arrived cold! And overcooked. And flavourless. Not recommended!

As we were staying in Providence neighborhood we searched for some restaurant offering seafood and fish nearby. We found "El Ancla" on a lovely corner three blocks away Providence Avenue. We ate on two different nights Empandas of shrimp and centolla, Ceviche Imperial and Pilpil El Ancla. All the dishes were great and the prices were in line with the... More

We were looking for other restaurant as it was closed, we decided to go to El Ancla once it was nearby. I had grilled congrio with octopus sauce and potatos. The whole meal was average as well as the service.

This place is located in Providencia, a bit aside from the noise of the main street. It's better to go around 7:30-8 pm since it tends to get crowded after that, ask for a table outside. The staff is very attentive and friendly, another couple even got an Italian speaker waiter to help them!. But here comes the best: THE... More

After fortunately ignoring a few recommendations of others, a friend suggested this seafood spot close to our hotel as his choice. Well, this is now our choice, and our best seafood meal that I can remember ever. The ceviche was just to start, but enough for an entire meal. The uni or sea urchin was amazing and huge as well.... This restaurant came highly recommended. We had ceviche and octopus, as well as some vegetables. I have had better of both of these seafood dishes. There was plenty of food, good service, but frankly, I was disappointed.

This is the perfect choice if you want to have great seafood and avoid the rush at Mercado Central. The neighborhood is just wonderful and the food is great.

My husband and I went for dinner. The Ceviche Imperial was on the bland side. It was definitely not one of the better ceviches that we've had in Santiago. My husband got the filet of Conger with mashed potatoes. He said it was good and well cooked. I got the seafood stew. It was ok. Nothing fantastic. I guess it... More
